Signature Architectural Projects and Design Work
A collection of our signature work defining the Firm Terra philosophy: honest materials, natural light, and the intersection of traditional Indian craftsmanship with modern living.
This expansive living area in the Vidyut Kapoor Residence demonstrates our use of honest materials like exposed brick and stone flooring. The double-height vaulted ceiling and large glass doors flood the space with natural light, seamlessly connecting the interior with the garden outside.
In the Reshma Residence, a large skylight transforms the central dining area into a dramatic, light-filled atrium. This top-down view shows how we engineer vertical spaces to create an open and airy atmosphere throughout the home, with pendant lights adding a warm glow.
We designed this internal courtyard for the Chatty Residence to act as the green heart of the home. The space is lined with sandstone and filled with plants, providing a tranquil view and improving natural ventilation for the surrounding rooms.
These traditionally carved wooden pillars in the Roopa Hariprasad Residence are a centerpiece of the home's design. We use such elements to ground our modern architectural work in the richness of Indian craft and heritage, creating a space that feels both timeless and personal.
For the Torishima Pumps corporate office, we created a multi-story atrium that serves as a bright and welcoming central hub. The suspended art installation and indoor garden bed establish a professional yet creative brand identity from the moment one enters the building.
The custom-designed floral motif on this staircase railing at the Roopa Hariprasad Residence creates a dynamic play of light and shadow on the wall. This is an example of how we treat functional elements as opportunities for artistic expression in our residential architecture projects.

About this collection
We approach every project by first conducting a solar path analysis of your site. This allows us to position windows and internal courtyards to maximize natural light and ventilation, ensuring your space remains naturally cool while significantly reducing the need for artificial lighting and climate control.
Architecture Rooted in Environment
Our design philosophy is anchored in the belief that a building should reflect its surroundings and the materials it is built from. Whether we are designing a private residence in Sarjapur or an industrial hub for a corporation like Torishima Pumps, we prioritize sustainability and structural integrity over fleeting trends. We focus on utilizing exposed wire-cut bricks, natural stone, and wood because these materials age with grace and reduce the need for synthetic finishes.
Integrating Tradition and Modernity
We often look to traditional Indian architecture to solve modern spatial problems. By incorporating elements like arched niches, carved pillars, and ventilated screens, we provide cultural continuity while maintaining an open, contemporary floor plan. This is evident in our residential projects where we blend double-height ceilings with reclaimed wood joinery to create a space that feels both grounded and expansive.
Technical Precision in Construction
Beyond aesthetics, our work is defined by rigorous technical documentation. From precision drawings for stone masonry to GFC (Good for Construction) drawings that detail MEP and plumbing loops, we ensure that every design intent is executed accurately. We personally visit timber yards and stone quarries to select materials, ensuring consistency across the build. This level of oversight allows us to manage complex features like skylights, floating staircases, and multi-level atriums without compromising the structural or visual quality of the final build.
Firm Terra Architects
We are a team that believes architecture should feel rooted in the earth. Since 2001, we have been sketching and building spaces across Bengaluru that prioritize honest materials like exposed brick and stone. Whether it is a home or a commercial hub, our goal is to create environments that breathe.
