Handmade Papermaking Workshops in Bengaluru
Transform your waste into tactile, sustainable art. Join me to learn the mindful craft of making fresh, textured paper sheets right here in Bengaluru.
I love turning old waste into something beautiful. This video shows my process of recycling shredded office documents into fresh, handmade paper, ready for a new purpose.
Here you can see the process of pressing and drying the newly formed sheets of recycled paper. Each sheet has a unique texture and character, making it perfect for crafts and stationery.
A stack of my latest batch of handmade paper, created from recycled newspaper and infused with dried rose petals. It's not perfect, but each sheet tells a story of transformation and learning.
Experimenting with adding natural dyes to my paper pulp. Here, I'm swirling in a beautiful magenta pigment to create colored, recycled paper sheets.
The 'deckle and mould' is the essential tool for papermaking. This wooden frame with a screen is used to lift the paper pulp from the water, forming a new sheet of paper.

The papermaking process in action. Here you can see the tub of pulp and the freshly made sheets drying on a cloth. It's a messy but incredibly rewarding craft.
A single sheet of my handmade paper with rose petals. I love how the petals are scattered throughout, adding a touch of romance and natural beauty. I plan to use these for heartfelt notes.
Another look at the rose petal paper. My first attempt at infusing flowers was a great learning experience, and I'm excited to refine the technique.

About From Waste to Wonder: Handmade Papermaking
We start with something as simple as a stack of shredded newspapers. Through the process of soaking, blending, and using a traditional deckle and mould, we turn that waste into beautiful, textured sheets that you can customize with dried flowers or natural pigments.
Papermaking is less about perfection and more about the process of slowing down. In these sessions, I teach you how to give old paper a second life. We work with recycled newspaper and office waste, breaking it down into a pulp that serves as our canvas.
What we do in the session
We start by prepping the pulp and learning to balance the water ratio. You will learn to use the deckle and mould, the essential wooden frame that shapes the paper. This is where the magic happens, as you lift the wet pulp from the tub to form a new, raw sheet. Once formed, we experiment with texture by pressing and drying the sheets. We also add botanical elements, like dried rose petals or leaves, directly into the wet pulp, creating unique patterns that make every single sheet one of a kind.
Why this craft is special
It is a tactile, messy, and deeply grounding experience. Unlike modern production, handmade papermaking allows you to feel the grain and appreciate the deckle edges of the paper. Whether you are looking for a creative outlet to de-stress or want to make your own stationery, this craft offers a tangible way to connect with sustainability. I bring all the equipment, from the frames to the drying materials, to your preferred location in Bengaluru, be it your home, office, or a quiet cafe.
