Spiritual and Mythological Acrylic Art
I translate ancient Indian spiritual narratives onto canvas, blending contemporary technique with deep-rooted tradition to create meaningful focal points for your space.
A commissioned painting of Lord Ganesha, rendered in acrylic on canvas. The piece combines a colorful, fully painted depiction of the deity with surrounding line work, showing the blend of finished art and initial sketch.
The Ganesha painting in an earlier stage of progress. This view shows how I build layers of color and detail, starting with the central figure and expanding to the ornate background.
A further stage of the Ganesha painting, with more color and form added to the deity's garland and crown. This demonstrates the careful process of developing a complex spiritual artwork.
Another work-in-progress shot of the Ganesha commission. Here, the focus is on blocking in the main colors of the figure before adding finer details and the surrounding elements.
The initial chalk sketch of the Ganesha composition on the prepared canvas. Every detailed painting begins with a foundational drawing to ensure the structure and proportions are correct.
The Ganesha painting nearing completion, with the background elements and surrounding figures being blocked in. This shows the transition from the central subject to the full narrative scene.

A painting of a blue deity mask with a third eye, rendered with fiery red and gold details. This work draws from mythological iconography to create a powerful and intense visual statement.
About Spiritual & Mythological Art
Every spiritual piece I create begins with a foundational charcoal sketch on the canvas to ensure the composition captures the right energy. I build up layers of acrylic paint, focusing intently on the expression and iconography of figures like Radha Krishna or Ganesha. If you commission a work, I share these progress stages with you, so the final painting feels like a personal collaboration rather than just a transaction.
My approach to spiritual and mythological art is rooted in bringing traditional Indian iconography into contemporary interiors. I use professional-grade acrylic paints on fine-grain cotton canvas, allowing for vibrant, lasting color that respects the historical significance of the deities and figures I paint.
The Artistic Process
Each commission is treated as an individual project. I do not mass-produce these works. Instead, I follow a disciplined method—starting with a precise sketch, blocking in the forms, and finally layering the details. This process ensures that the finished piece possesses the depth and character you expect from a handcrafted artwork. To protect your investment, every completed painting is coated with a non-yellowing varnish, providing resistance against dust, moisture, and UV damage.
Practical Details for Collectors
When you commission a spiritual painting, I focus on creating a narrative that speaks to your specific space. Whether you are looking for a portrait of Ganesha for your entryway or a depiction of Radha Krishna for a living area, the composition is adjusted to fit your dimensions.
Because I prioritize the integrity of the canvas during transit, large format works are delivered rolled in industrial-strength PVC pipes. This method prevents the crushing that often occurs with stretched frames during shipping. Each artwork includes a short printed note explaining the cultural significance of the motif, and I provide a Certificate of Authenticity with every piece. Whether you are based in Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, or anywhere across India, I ensure the art reaches you safely, ready to be stretched and framed according to your interior preferences.
Pratap Badtya
I studied at the Sir J.J. School of Art, but my real inspiration comes from the stories I grew up with. I believe art should not just decorate a wall; it should carry a weight and a sense of peace that you feel every time you walk into the room.
