Dog Rescue and Trauma Recovery Stories
We handle critical trauma cases for street dogs across Bangalore, providing everything from emergency surgery to long-term wound management.
This is how this community dog came to us, with a painful wound and a severely swollen face. It's a common sight, but one we are always prepared to treat.
During his recovery, you can see the wounds beginning to heal. Our team provided continuous care, cleaning the wounds and ensuring he was free from pain as his body started to mend.
The final result of our team's effort. His face was restored, the wounds completely healed, and he was no longer in any discomfort. This is the transformation that drives us.

A portrait of hope. This image was taken as he was nearing the end of his treatment at the CUPA Trauma & Rescue Centre, ready to return to his community.
We use trigger warnings for extremely graphic images. This puppy was a victim of possible intentional harm, with a broken jaw and severe head trauma.
The impact of the blow severely affected his eye and broke his jaw. Our first step is always to stabilize the animal and manage their immense pain.
About this collection
When an animal arrives at our Sanjayanagara Trauma Centre, the immediate priority is stabilization. Whether the case involves a crushed limb from a road accident, severe maggot wounds, or the aftermath of intentional cruelty, our team moves quickly to perform diagnostics, pain management, and surgical intervention. We treat every dog as an individual, focusing entirely on their specific medical needs rather than general sympathy.
Our rescue operations are built on a protocol of action, not just observation. We handle the full spectrum of emergency trauma care, starting with ambulance dispatch using modified vehicles to ensure safe containment. Once at our centre, we move beyond basic first aid. We perform major surgical procedures, including amputations, soft tissue reconstruction, and tumor excisions, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like digital X-rays and blood profiling.
Recovery is an equally critical phase. We do not believe in indefinite caging; our inpatient boarding uses specialized isolation kennels to provide a sterile, quiet environment for healing. We manage post-operative care with therapies like Class IV Laser treatment to aid nerve regeneration and ensure consistent pain management until the animal is fit for release. While we advocate for returning street dogs to their known territories, our focus remains on ensuring they are physically capable of surviving there before discharge. This work is funded entirely by private donations and our hospital operations, allowing us to maintain free emergency services for the community animals who need us most.
