We are a space built for stories, art, and connection. Join us in Kengeri for everything from hands-on pottery and folk dance workshops to intimate music concerts and community potlucks.

Welcome to our home. We are Courtyard Koota, a collective of passionate individuals dedicated to building a community around stories, art, and connection. This is a quick look at the people who bring the magic to life, from our curators and artists to our tech wizards and volunteers. We believe in creating a space where everyone feels welcome, and we can't wait for you to join our Koota.

Nothing brings people together like good food and great conversation. This overhead view captures the heart of our Local Food Club potluck, a monthly gathering where members share dishes, recipes, and stories. It’s a feast for the senses and a perfect example of the community spirit we cherish. Come, pull up a chair, there’s always room for one more at our table.

Experience the energy of a live performance at Koota. This clip is from 'Nrutya Beru,' a captivating folk dance lecture and demonstration by Sneha Kappanna. We host a variety of performing arts events, from classical Indian dance workshops to contemporary theatre, offering a stage for artists to share their craft and for audiences to be inspired.

Here, creativity is a hands-on experience. This photo from our Shibori workshop shows participants learning the ancient Japanese art of resist-dyeing from textile designer Sarah Thomas. Our workshops are designed to be beginner friendly, providing all the materials and guidance you need to get your hands messy and create something beautiful.

At the heart of Koota are conversations that matter. This is a glimpse into one of our intimate discussion circles, where attendees gather to explore new ideas, share perspectives, and connect with authors, thinkers, and fellow community members. We create a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere where every voice is heard and valued.

Joy, laughter, and learning define our programs for young audiences. This video captures the vibrant energy of our Makkala Masti Habba, an annual festival celebrating the creativity of children from our outreach programs. From theatre workshops to storytelling sessions, we believe in making learning a fun and magical adventure for kids.

Step into our gallery space during the 'Wild Whispers 2.0' art exhibition. We transform our venue to showcase powerful works from artists near and far, creating an immersive experience for art lovers. This walkthrough gives you a feel for how we celebrate visual stories and the artists behind them.

Music is a universal language, and at Koota, it's a conversation. This happy moment was captured after our Alma Trio workshop, where participants explored the art of musical dialogue. We host a diverse range of music events, including Carnatic concerts, jazz festivals, and interactive drum circles, bringing together musicians and enthusiasts to share their passion.

About Featured

You don't need to be an expert to join us. Whether you are trying pottery for the first time or sitting in on an intimate Carnatic music session, we provide the tools and guidance to help you dive right in. Most of our workshops are designed for small groups, which means you get actual time with the artists instead of just sitting in the back of a large class.

Courtyard Koota is not a traditional venue. We are a collective—a group of friends, artists, and neighbors building a space for stories to happen. Located in Kengeri, we have spent seven years turning this space into a home for creative expression.

The Koota Experience

When we say we host creative workshops, we mean hands-on learning where you get your hands messy. Whether you are dyeing fabric in a Shibori session, learning the rhythm of a folk dance, or sitting through a lecture-demonstration on Carnatic music, the goal is immersion. We believe that true learning happens in small groups. You will find batch sizes are kept intimate, allowing you to actually interact with the artists and fellow participants. Our space is equipped for these interactions, from our pottery wheels to the library where we host book readings.

Community & Connection

We also place a huge emphasis on the community aspect. If you are looking for a space to just be yourself, our potlucks and jigsaw jams are exactly that. We provide the coffee, the snacks, and the comfortable seating. You bring the stories. Everything we do, from Makkala Masti for children to our art exhibitions, is designed to be accessible. We do not stand on ceremony here. If you are curious about local history, wildlife, or simply want to listen to folk music, you have a seat at our table. Come as you are, and get ready to learn something new.

We started Courtyard Koota because we wanted a place for the community to actually talk to each other. Natasha, Nanu, Sridevi, Khushi, and a team of us keep the space buzzing with everything from Carnatic music to potluck lunches. It is not just a venue; it is a space that grows and changes with the people who walk through our doors.
