We bring stories to life through movement and stage. Whether it is the precision of classical dance or the raw energy of contemporary theatre, our intimate Kengeri space puts you right at the heart of the action.

A glimpse into "Aṅgahāraḥ," a mesmerizing Odissi duet performance by dancers from the renowned Nrityagram. The weekend also included an immersive workshop, celebrating the devotion, movement, and storytelling of this classical dance form.

The energy of Lavani, a traditional folk dance from Maharashtra, fills our space. This clip from a workshop and performance by Savitri Medhatul showcases the powerful storytelling and rhythm that makes this art form so captivating.

Dancers perform during "Nrutya Beru," a folk dance lecture and demonstration with Sneha Kappanna. The performance combined live movement with visuals to explore the roots and meanings of folk traditions.

Dancers from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts on our stage for their "Contemporary Expressions in Dance" open day. The performance was a dynamic fusion of the ancient martial art Kalaripayattu and contemporary dance.

Event poster for "Vinyasa," a performance exploring the flow and connection between the movements of Yoga and Bharathanatyam, presented by dancer Aruna Bhargavi.

The poster for "What If?", a week long theatre workshop for children aged 7-10, conducted by Our Theatre Collective. The workshop focused on story building, sound, rhythm, and performance making.

Poster for "The Poet & The Sun," a theatre performance for children by Abhitej Gupta. This poetic tale, part of our "Once Upon a Time" series, followed an adventurous boy's quest to catch the sun.

Our team members, Sreedevi Ajayan and Natasha Iype, introduce our very first in house theatre production: Girish Karnad's "Wedding Album." This marks our commitment to not just hosting, but also creating art.

About Performing Arts: Dance & Theatre

You will not find a barricade between you and the performers here. Our Main Hall is designed for intimacy, meaning you are close enough to catch the nuance of a dancer’s mudra or the subtle shift in a theatre actor's tone. We host intimate lecture-demonstrations and full productions where the artist often stays back after the show to talk about the process, not just present the final product.

At Courtyard Koota, we believe that dance and theatre are at their best when they invite conversation. Our stage has hosted everything from the rigorous grace of Odissi by Nrityagram’s artists to the dynamic, boundary-pushing contemporary movements of the Attakkalari Centre. We do not just put on a show and dim the lights. Many of our events, like our 'Nrutya Beru' series, combine performance with lecture-demonstrations, giving you the context behind the rhythm and the history of the movement.

For theatre lovers, we bridge the gap between audience and creation. From staging our first in-house production of Girish Karnad's 'Wedding Album' to running immersive 'What If?' theatre workshops for children, we are committed to both showing art and nurturing it. Whether you are coming to watch a poetic tale of a boy trying to catch the sun or looking to get your child involved in story-building, our space is designed for participation. The seating is informal, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the experience is always personal.
