Artist Residency Program for Ceramic Professionals

byClay StationStudio at Koramangala, BengaluruView full gallery

A structured program designed for emerging ceramic artists to develop their practice, access professional studio facilities, and launch their work through a gallery showcase.

A senior artist explains the unique benefits of a residency, from the room to experiment without financial pressure to the invaluable networking and community building. Our program at Clay Station also offers a chance to get involved in R&D and teaching.

We are now accepting applications for our Artist Residency program. This is an opportunity for emerging ceramic artists to receive mentorship, studio access, and a platform to showcase their work.

Here are the eligibility requirements for our residency program. We are looking for self directed artists, 18 years or older, with 2 to 4 years of pottery experience and a commitment to exploring a professional career in ceramics.

This graphic outlines the application process for our residency program. We require a bio, artist statement, and a portfolio of 5 to 10 images of your work. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further details.

About this collection

Most residencies do not give you a seat at the R&D table, but here you get hands-on experience developing new glazes and kilns alongside senior artists. It changes how you look at the medium, moving you from someone who just makes pots to someone who understands the science and production behind them.

Our program is built for those ready to move past the hobby phase. Whether you join the fully-sponsored Fellowship or the Self-Funded Independent Residency, the focus remains on your professional growth.

What you gain

  • Studio Infrastructure: You get dedicated workspace at our Koramangala studio, equipped with professional wheels, slab rollers, and extruders. We provide the clay, glazes, and firing schedules so you can work without the constant cost of materials.
  • Mentorship & R&D: You work directly with senior artists. Beyond just critiques on your sculptures, you can join our R&D team to understand glaze chemistry and kiln maintenance. This backend knowledge is what separates a student from a professional studio potter.
  • The Arangetram: The program concludes with a professional gallery exhibition. We handle the exhibition setup, marketing, and management, giving you a platform to present your collection to collectors and the wider art community.

Who should apply?

If you are 18+ with 2 to 4 years of experience, we want to see your work. We look for artists who are self-directed and eager to build a portfolio. Applications require a bio, artist statement, and 5-10 images of your work. We believe in the hunar within you and want to help you take that next serious step.
