A Glimpse Into Our Studio & Process
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how we work, from our Ghitorni workshop to our pop-up events across the country. See the hands, the leather, and the stories behind every Chiaroscuro bag.
A live look from our pop-up in Bangalore. We love taking our studio on the road, bringing trunks full of bags and all our leather swatches so you can experience Chiaroscuro in person, even if you can't make it to our Delhi workshop.

About A Glimpse Into Our World
Every bag you see here is 'Single Artisan Made.' This means one person—Danish, Rehman bhai, or another of our makers—starts and finishes your piece from scratch. When you order, you aren't picking off a shelf; you are starting a conversation about leather textures, strap lengths, and functional pockets with the person who will actually build your bag.
Our Ghitorni Workshop
Our studio in Ghitorni is not a typical retail showroom. It is a working workshop, buzzing with tools, leather scraps, and our team of artisans. When you visit, you are stepping into the space where the magic actually happens. You can feel the different leathers—from the soft, slouchy NDM to the firmer, semi-stiff exotic prints—and see the 'Single Artisan Made' promise in action.
The Customization Process
We love when you have ideas. Whether it is a longer sling, an extra pocket, or a piece of Gond art, we want to build it for you. Our design consultations are collaborative. We sit down, look at the leather lots we currently have, and figure out what works for your lifestyle. Many of our permanent collections actually started as custom requests from patrons like you.
Why Upcycled Leather?
We are always hunting for interesting, leftover leathers. When we find a unique batch, like a wild 'Disco Safari' print or a specific grainy leather, we grab it. This makes our inventory dynamic—some leathers are available for a long time, while others are limited. As we often say in the studio, 'Bahut bika hai, khatam hone wala hai ye toh' (It sold a lot, it is about to finish). If you see a material you love, it is best to act while that batch is still on our cutting table.
Chiaroscuro
I'm Smriti, and Chiaroscuro is our tiny studio where we get our hands dirty working with leather. Every piece here is made by one person, from the first stitch to the final finish, ensuring your bag has a personality of its own.
