Meet the Artisans Behind Our Bags
We are a family of makers. Every Chiaroscuro bag is crafted from start to finish by one person, and this is where you can meet the people behind your piece.
A message from me, Smriti, the founder of Chiaroscuro. This brand is my child, born from a dream to create beautiful, affordable, made-in-India leather bags while protecting artisanal skills. Thank you for being part of our 10-year journey.
Meet Sohrab, who has been with us for 9 of our 10 years. His dedication and skill are a huge part of our story, and he feels the work and the company are very good, which is why he has spent so much time with us.
This is Abdul, who has been with our team for seven years. He speaks about the pride he takes in his work and trying to meet the targets for each handcrafted piece.
Meet Ishak, an artisan who has been with us for about five years. He feels everything runs smoothly in the company and he enjoys his work here.
Ibrar, one of our single artisans, shares his experience of working with us for four years. He takes great pride in making customized pieces, a unique aspect of our company that he truly enjoys.
Obaid has been with us for two years and has learned a lot. He appreciates that our systems are fair, salaries are on time, and that the company has completed 10 years.
Naushad has been with us for a year and a half. He enjoys working here and is happy to be learning new things as part of our team.
Asif, our pattern master, talks about how our work is different from other companies. He feels he is learning new things here because of our unique, high-quality approach and the supportive environment.
Shehzaade shares his thoughts on our 10-year anniversary. He finds that working here is very different from his previous jobs because he gets to learn new and interesting things every day.
Zikrullah is one of our embroidery specialists. Though he hasn't been with us for very long, he feels the people and the work are very good and is happy to be part of our 10-year milestone.
About Meet Our Team: The Artisans Behind Your Bag
When you commission a bag from us, it does not move through a factory assembly line. A single artisan—like Sohrab or Ishak—takes your piece from the raw hide to the final stitch. This is why you will often find their signature on the tag; it is a level of accountability and pride that changes how the bag feels when you carry it.
We operate differently. Our Ghitorni studio is not a showroom; it is a workshop where leather scraps meet skilled hands. We do not chase mass production. Instead, we have spent a decade building a space where artisans like Abdul, Ibrar, and Naushad can thrive. You are not just buying a bag; you are supporting a 10-year journey of 'Single Artisan Made' craft. Whether it is our pattern master Asif perfecting a new silhouette or Zikrullah working on intricate embroidery, every person here brings something specific to the table. We believe in being transparent about our process—from the limited-run upcycled leathers we source to the time it takes to hand-stitch a strap. Come visit us to see the workshop floor, feel the texture of our NDM or pebbled hides, and understand why we say Chiaroscuro is our family. If you have a specific idea for a custom piece or just want to see how we work, we are always happy to chat.
Chiaroscuro
I'm Smriti, and Chiaroscuro is the community of people I am proudest of. We are not a factory; we are a small, tight-knit group in Delhi working with our hands. From our patterns to the final stitch, everything happens right here.
