Behind the Knots: My Handmade Process

Welcome to my studio! Here is a little peek into how I turn simple cotton threads into the pieces you love, knot by knot.

Here is a little glimpse into the making of a star keychain. It takes a lot of knots and patience, but I love the process of creating something beautiful from a simple thread.

A glimpse of my stall at the Gymkhana Club in Ooty! It was so wonderful to display all my handmade products, from wall hangings to bags and keychains.

We did it! This was my first exhibition in Coonoor, and the response was so overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who came and supported my handmade work.

A quick tour of my home decor collection on display. I make everything from plant hangers and wall hangings to dreamcatchers and shelves.

A quick look at what I have to offer! This video shows some of my most popular items, including rainbow keychains, plant hangers, and clutches.

About this collection

When you order from me, you aren't getting something stamped out by a factory machine. Every piece is created by my own hands in my small Gurugram studio. Because I knot everything myself, you might occasionally spot a tiny quirk or slight unevenness in the pattern. I don't see these as flaws; they are proof that your item was crafted with time, patience, and a whole lot of heart.

I started Sutram Handmade because I love the meditative nature of knotting. My workspace is almost always a mix of cotton cords, scraps of fabric, and a steaming cup of chai.

I work primarily with 100% natural, eco-friendly cotton thread. It is gentle on the environment and creates a beautiful, textured finish that synthetic materials just cannot match. When I am starting a new piece—like a wall hanging or a custom tote bag—I often don't have a perfect blueprint. I start with a loose idea, pick up the thread, and let the pattern evolve. Sometimes, that means I spend hours untying and re-knotting until the shape feels just right.

Because I am a one-person business, I pour a lot of myself into every order. This is also why I love custom requests. If you have a specific color combination in mind or a vision for a unique gift hamper, I can actually make it happen. I don't have a warehouse full of inventory, but I do have a studio where I can tailor a design to suit your space or your event. If you need something specific, just message me and we can chat about what is possible.

Hi, I am the face behind Sutram Handmade! I left my corporate life to follow my love for threads, and now I spend my days knotting away in my Gurugram studio. It is just me, my cotton cords, and a cup of chai, creating pieces that bring a little extra warmth into your home.
