Training isn't about memorizing moves; it's about solving problems in real-time. Here is the philosophy that drives Reign MMA.

Right now I feel like the best version of myself as a coach, athlete, and person. But there's always another level to scale. The mindset of constant improvement is what I bring to my training and my team.

Meeting Priit Mihkelson, a coach I've learned from for years, was a huge moment for me. It reinforced my belief that the Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) is the future of martial arts coaching.

Receiving my brown belt after a grueling 12-day practical exam. This journey has given me the creative freedom to explore the limits of our sport and refine my ecological approach.

A reflection on my brown belt exam. It was a 2.5-hour practical test that pushed me to my limits and validated my vision for ecological training.

My journey wouldn't be possible without my better half and my students. My goal is to create a new standard of jiu-jitsu in Asia, and I'm proud of the process and system we are building.

Being in fighting shape is a state of mind. It's about being mindful of what you eat and the days you take off. Discipline is a choice.

About Coach's Corner: My Journey & Philosophy

When I earned my brown belt, it wasn't through a standard test. I underwent a grueling 2.5-hour practical exam involving constant, live problem-solving under my mentor's watchful eye. That intensity is exactly what you get here at Reign MMA. We do not do static, passive drills because the street or the cage is never static. We simulate chaos to build real fight IQ.

The core of my teaching is the 'Ecological Approach' to martial arts. Traditional gyms often rely on static drilling—repeating a move until it feels perfect in a vacuum. The problem is that when resistance is introduced, those memorized combos fall apart because they lack adaptability.

At our academy in HBR Layout, we use a constraints-led approach. I set up scenarios where you are forced to find solutions under pressure. We focus on high-level concepts like kuzushi (off-balancing), lever control, and dynamic guard retention. If you play closed guard, we are going to explore why that might be failing you. If you are struggling with your striking, we identify the specific gap in your movement rather than just repeating a jab-cross combo.

This method is designed for those who want to be ready for the real world, not just a tournament podium. We are building a culture of hard work and loyalty, stripping away the ego that prevents most people from actually learning. En ande mele ennaiya konduva. If you are ready to sweat, fail, and actually grow, you belong on these mats.
