Authentic Kathak Performances & Lucknow Gharana Productions
We are custodians of the Kalka-Bindadin gharana, presenting Kathak not as mere entertainment, but as a living heritage. From intimate solo recitals to grand thematic ballets, explore the range of our traditional productions.
A moment of perfect synchronicity and grace from our 'Taraana' composition at Varshik Utsav 2024. This is what we strive for in our group choreographies, where every dancer moves as one, telling a story through pure nritta (dance).
A glimpse of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj performing 'baithaki bhaav' (seated expression) at the Naman Festival. This intimate form of abhinaya, performed with live musicians, is a hallmark of the Lucknow Gharana's expressive storytelling.
The energy of a 'chakkar' (spin) performed by one of our young shishyas at our Tarkash II solo showcase. We train our students in the authentic techniques of the gharana, preparing them to command the stage with confidence and precision.
The vibrant celebration of 'Holi Dhoom Machori' on a grand stage. Our production services cover everything from concept and choreography to stagecraft and lighting, creating immersive cultural experiences for large-scale festivals.
Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj explaining the meaning of 'Virasat' (heritage) to our students during a rehearsal. Our taalim (training) is not just about dance steps; it is about passing down the philosophy and stories of our parampara.
Smt. Ruby Mishra in a moment of deep abhinaya. As a Guru, she guides our students in the nuances of expression, ensuring that every performance is not just technically sound but also emotionally resonant.
The intricate patterns of 'Swar Sudha,' a composition from our Varshik Utsav. This piece showcases the seamless weaving of rhythmic syllables (bols) and pure dance, a testament to our detailed choreography for group performances.
The official invitation to our Varshik Utsav 2024, featuring Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj. We handle the complete curation of cultural evenings, from intimate baithaks to grand auditorium shows like this one.
About Featured
We do not just put on shows; we create immersive experiences rooted in the Lucknow Gharana. Whether it is our senior students performing in our Tarkash solo series or our ensemble bringing a thematic ballet to life, every movement is backed by authentic technique and rhythmic precision. If you are organizing a cultural event, festival, or private baithak, understand that we prioritize live musicians and traditional musicality over pre-recorded setups.
Our approach to performance is defined by 'Sadhana'—the discipline and deep practice that precedes every step on stage. We believe Kathak is a conversation between the dancer and the music, which is why our performances, particularly our solo and baithak-style recitals, are accompanied by professional classical musicians.
Our Performance Offerings
- Live Musical Recitals (Baithak Style): Designed for intimate settings where the nuances of abhinaya (expression) and layaakari (rhythmic play) shine. These performances feature live accompaniment on Tabla, Sarangi, and vocal support.
- Senior Disciple Ensemble: A disciplined presentation of the Lucknow Gharana repertoire, ideal for cultural gatherings that require synchronized choreography and traditional attire.
- Grand Thematic Ballets: Full-scale productions like 'Katha Raghunath Ki' or 'Holi Dhoom Machori' that integrate choreography, storytelling, and stagecraft. These require larger spaces and technical coordination.
How We Work
When we commit to a performance, we take full responsibility for the artistic vision. We do not offer generic dance items. Everything from the concept to the final manch (stage) presence is handled by us to ensure the purity of the tradition remains intact. We perform across the National Capital Region and are available to travel for commissioned productions. If you are looking for performances that respect the gravity of Indian classical dance, we invite you to discuss your specific event requirements with us.
