Silambam Weapon Training: Advanced Martial Arts Skills
Silambam is not just stick fighting. It is an ancient discipline that sharpens your reflexes, coordination, and mental clarity. This is where the basics meet raw combat mechanics.
This video demonstrates a solo Silambam flow, combining footwork with controlled stick rotations. This practice is a form of moving meditation, requiring complete harmony between body and mind to master the weapon as an extension of yourself.
Learning new skills is a constant process. This clip shows another variation of Silambam practice, focusing on speed and agility. Each movement is precise, designed for both defense and attack in traditional combat scenarios.
About Advanced Skills: Silambam Weapon Training
We do not hand you a stick on day one. You only progress to weapons once your body mechanics from the Maichuvad stances are solid. If you are joining for the Sunday batches, expect to sweat through 90 minutes of intense conditioning before we even touch the Silambam sticks. This is technical work, so do not expect shortcuts—you earn the right to handle the weapons through discipline.
The Path to Mastery
We don't teach tricks; we teach control. Silambam is the logical next step after you have mastered the foundational body-control sequences (Meipayattu).
The Curriculum
- Weapon Mechanics: We start with Rattan and Bamboo sticks. You will learn the geometry of the flow—how to rotate, block, and strike without telegraphing your movement.
- Fluidity: It is about making the weapon an extension of your arm. The goal is coordination. If your feet are not moving with the stick, you are just waving wood in the air.
- Progression: Students who demonstrate consistent form move on to Sword and Shield postures. This is for those who are ready to respect the heritage and the danger involved.
Why Train With Us?
Our instructors are IKF certified teachers with roots in the gurukul system. They know the difference between a flashy performance and actual combat readiness. We train in an industrial, non-AC environment in Horamavu because comfort is the enemy of progress. If you want a polished, air-conditioned studio experience, this is not the place for you. But if you want to learn from people who actually fight and sweat alongside you, you have found the right family.
