Featured Moments from My Tango Mentorship
A look into the connection, technical precision, and philosophy that defines my approach to Argentine Tango.
Tango is a real conversation, not a monologue where one person just dictates. The dance becomes beautiful when it's a back and forth exchange. In my classes, you will learn to be an active participant, not just a passive follower, making every dance a unique creation.
A common mistake is leaning on your partner, which creates dependency. I teach you to extend from your own axis, maintaining your balance. This video demonstrates the difference between leaning, where you would fall if your partner moves, and extending, where you remain stable and in control of your own body.
Who is a leader and who is a follower? A leader invites and commands respect, they don't bully or push. A follower is an active partner in the dance, not someone just being taken along. We explore these roles deeply, so you understand the responsibility and connection from both sides.
My journey of bringing authentic Argentine Tango from Buenos Aires to Bangalore was recently featured in the Deccan Chronicle. It's an honor to be recognized for building this passionate community in India over the last seven years.
My longform mentorship is for those who want to truly live the dance, not just learn steps. This is a customized, one on one journey for individuals or couples ready for a deep and thoughtful commitment to Tango, available both online and in person.
The connection in Tango is a powerful feeling. This moment was captured during our academy's flash mob at UB City, Bangalore. It shows the focus and intimacy that develops between partners when they are truly present in the dance.
With over 20 years of experience and training across the globe, including Buenos Aires, my mission is to share the joy of Tango. My style combines technical precision with the intimate soul of the dance, empowering you to find your own expression.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students grow in confidence and skill. This is a collection of testimonials from students who have attended my online rhythm courses, beginner workshops, and long term mentorship programs.
About Featured
I don't teach shortcuts or generic steps. My method, TangoShastra, uses engineering-grade precision to break down the dance into a logical, non-verbal conversation. Whether we are focusing on posture, rhythm, or the mechanics of a leader-follower connection, you aren't here to mimic; you are here to understand the logic behind the movement.
Tango as a Conversation
Tango is not a lecture, and it is certainly not a monologue. The dance only becomes beautiful when it is a back and forth exchange. If you always dance the way you hear the music, you already know the result. My goal is to teach you how to listen to your partner and respond, making the next step a unique creation based on the input you receive. In my sessions, we explore this dynamic deeply.
The TangoShastra Method
I developed TangoShastra to bring structure to this art. Having a background in engineering, I approach dance analytically. We focus on:
- Posture & Extension: Moving away from dependency-based leaning toward an active, grounded extension.
- Role Fluidity: Learning to lead and follow so you understand the responsibility of both sides of the partnership.
- Rhythm & Musicality: Dissecting Tango, Vals, and Milonga to understand the structure beneath the steps.
Mentorship vs. Batch Classes
This is not a high-volume, generic dance class. My mentorship is a process designed for those who want to live the dance, not just learn a set of steps for a one-off performance. Whether you are looking to reset old habits, master complex off-axis figures like Ganchos or Barridas, or simply find your groove, we work one-on-one. Sessions are conducted in Koramangala or Indiranagar, and I also offer intensive online modules for those outside my immediate orbit. We move at your pace, using video analysis to ensure the theory translates into actual movement. If you are ready to treat Tango as a long-term discipline, let's start a conversation.
