I teach Tango not as a series of memorized steps, but as a scientific conversation. My TangoShastra method breaks down the mechanics of posture, balance, and connection so you can dance with intention rather than just following moves.

To lead a turn effectively, your body must remain straight and your arms must create the space for the follower. This exercise shows how to guide your partner without sending your own hands back, maintaining a stable posture and clear lead.

For leaders, moving your body and legs together as a single unit is fundamental. This clip demonstrates the correct way to initiate a forward step, ensuring your movement is cohesive and your lead is clear, rather than just sending a leg out.

This exercise, using a balloon to create awareness, focuses on correct hip alignment in the cross system. It's your responsibility to maintain the connection and alignment with your partner, ensuring you move as one.

To execute a 'sandwich' or 'mordida' without looking down, you must develop a strong sense of your partner's space. Here, I demonstrate how to find the follower's foot by feeling their position and dragging your foot, maintaining your posture and connection throughout.

Here is a simple and effective way to enter the cross system while dancing. By momentarily pausing the follower's movement as the leader steps to the side, you can seamlessly shift from parallel to cross system walking.

This exercise is designed to increase sensitivity and teach leaders to guide with natural body movement, not by pulling or pushing with the hands. For followers, it's a practice in calming the nerves and not anticipating the next move, trusting the lead instead.

Good posture is the foundation of Tango, and it starts from your core. This seated exercise helps isolate and strengthen the upper body frame, teaching you how to maintain your structure and presence even without using your legs.

About The TangoShastra Method: Technique & Posture

Most people struggle with Tango because they rely on their hands to guide or manipulate their partner. In my sessions, we fix this immediately. We work on your core alignment and frame so your lead comes from your torso and intention, not your arms. It takes time to unlearn the habit of pulling a partner, but once your upper body structure is solid, the dance becomes effortless and intuitive.
