Authentic Flamenco Workshops and Community in Mumbai
Flamenco is more than dance; it is a language, a rhythm, and a community. Join our tribe to explore everything from foundational technique to the soulful Cantes de Ida y Vuelta.
To me, dance is a divine conversation, especially when sharing it with an audience that hangs on every movement. This black and white portrait captures a moment of connection, holding a traditional fan or 'abanico'. I believe in planting the seeds of artistic possibility, and I bring this passion for performance and authenticity into every class I teach.
Here is our wonderful group during the 'Namaste Flamenco Tour' in Sevilla, Spain. We were in a Cante Masterclass, learning singing and musicality from world-renowned artists. This is the kind of deep immersion I love to offer my students, connecting them with the heart of Flamenco right in its birthplace.
This poster is for my popular online course, 'Cante por Bulerías'. It's designed for absolute beginners and dancers who want to understand Flamenco music from the inside out. We learn to sing traditional verses and master the rhythm, or 'compas', all from the comfort of your home via live Zoom classes.
For more experienced dancers, I offer my signature 'Pillars of Flamenco' workshop. This poster shows a dancer embodying the focus we cultivate. In this course, we move beyond choreography to integrate the four pillars: cante (singing), baile (dance), toque (guitar), and palmas (rhythm), which is essential for any serious student.
This is a poster from a professional 'tablao' performance I did in Seville, the heartland of Flamenco. Sharing the stage with such talented artists was an honor and it's this real-world performance experience that I bring back to my students, ensuring my teaching is authentic and practical.
Our SCFA community is a true 'familia'. This graphic details one of our exclusive student gatherings in Mumbai, which include meet and greets, film screenings, and live singing circles. These events are where we connect, share our passion, and build lasting friendships beyond the classroom.
This vintage car in a colorful Cuban street hints at a fascinating part of Flamenco history. I teach my students about the 'Cantes de Ida y Vuelta', styles that traveled from Spain to Latin America and returned, enriched with new rhythms and melodies. It shows how Flamenco is a living, breathing art form with a global story.
About Featured
We do not just teach choreography. Our workshops focus on the 'Four Pillars'—singing, dance, guitar, and rhythm—so you actually understand how to dance with live music rather than just following a sequence. Whether you are in our Bandra studio or joining from home via Zoom, you learn the true language of Flamenco.
At SCFA, we believe technique is freedom. Many students get stuck in endless repetition without ever understanding the 'why' behind the movement. My approach, refined over decades of training in Seville, breaks this cycle.
The Pillars of Flamenco
Flamenco is a conversation between four elements: Cante (singing), Baile (dance), Toque (guitar), and Palmas (rhythm). In our workshops, we demystify these components. If you are a dancer, understanding the rhythm, or 'compas', is your secret weapon. It allows you to improvise and communicate with musicians on stage instead of just performing a memorized routine.
Where We Learn
- In-Studio (Mumbai): Our sessions in Bandra and Khar are strictly capped at 8 to 10 students. This ensures I can provide the physical posture adjustments and feedback necessary for proper technique and sound production.
- Online: My live Zoom courses make Flamenco accessible from anywhere. We cover everything from absolute beginner basics to advanced singing and rhythm training, with recordings available if you miss a live session.
Join the Familia
When you join SCFA, you are not just signing up for a class. You are joining a tribe. We host exclusive film screenings, singing circles, and even immersive tours to Spain so you can experience the culture that birthed this art form. We welcome everyone—no prior experience, singing ability, or specific background is required. Come as you are, ready to move.
