About Group Dance Classes
What Group Tango Feels Like With Me
I think of Tango as a conversation, not a show. When you join my group dance classes, it's not about fancy moves or looking perfect. It's about connection - with yourself, the music, and the people around you. I teach you to tune in and respond, not just memorise steps.
Who Joins My Classes
- Never danced before? Arrey, that's actually the norm here. No rhythm, no problem!
- No partner? Absolutely chill - you don’t need to bring anyone along. We keep things balanced so everyone gets to dance.
- Age is just a number. People from 18 to 70 have walked in and grooved with us.
- Already know the basics? Our Improver level is waiting for you.
How We Learn Together
My method is called 'TangoShastra' - it breaks the dance down so you learn the science and soul, not just the outer show. We switch roles, so you’ll see what it feels like to lead and to follow. All roles are gender-neutral, no stereotypes here.
- Start with the Tango walk, posture, and embrace (abrazo)
- Learn musicality: how to catch the beat, pause, and move with Tango, Vals, Milonga
- Classes available as beginner-friendly dance workshops or multi-week courses
- In-person classes across Bangalore - Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR, Jayanagar, BTM. Online live sessions also available.
More Than Just Steps
You’ll be joining a community. We run social dance nights and regular practice sessions - you get to meet people, practise, and feel part of something bigger. Wear comfy clothes, shoes or even socks - main thing is, come as you are.

My Story
We’re Tango Academy, not your typical dance school. Started by Roopa Math, who ditched engineering for dance, we’re all about the real heart of Tango. Roopa trained in Buenos Aires, got hooked at her first Milonga, and now she’s back to build a Tango community here. Our classes aren’t about perfection – it’s about feeling the music, connecting, and finding your own groove. Come as you are, no fancy shoes needed.
