About Outdoor Portraits & Playtime
For outdoor sessions, I prefer working in public parks across the Mumbai suburbs like Borivali, usually during the golden hour. The natural light makes the colors pop, but the real advantage is the freedom it gives your child. When kids aren't confined to a studio, they explore, run, and relax, which is exactly how I capture those candid, true-to-life smiles instead of stiff poses.
My Approach to Outdoor Photography
Photography is about more than just a camera setting or a lens. It is about timing and patience. When we shoot outdoors, I bring my Sony A7 series gear to handle varying light, but I also bring my props—teepees, crates, and bunting—to create a small, comfortable zone where your child feels safe to play. My goal is to photograph your child as they are today, capturing their current interests, whether they are into books, toys, or just running around.
What Happens During the Session
I structure my 1.5 to 2.5-hour outdoor portrait sessions to be flexible. If a toddler needs a break or a snack, we pause. This is not a rushed process. I want the parents and siblings involved, so I encourage family milestone photography where everyone participates. We aren't just taking photos; we are documenting a stage of your child's life.
Planning Your Shoot
- Location: We can pick a park or garden in Mumbai that holds meaning for you, or I can suggest my favorite quiet spots in the suburbs.
- Timing: I always aim for early morning or late afternoon to ensure soft, flattering light.
- Outfits: I suggest comfortable clothing. If you want to mix traditional and western looks, we can plan for up to 3 outfit changes in the premium sessions.
- Props: I provide all the setup materials, but feel free to bring a favorite toy or book if your child is attached to it—it often helps with the candid expressions.
Whether it is a pre-birthday shoot or just a family day out, my focus remains on the joy of the moment.
