About Artistic Close-Ups
I often reach for my 85mm lens when I want to isolate these fleeting expressions. By shifting to black and white, I remove the distraction of colorful clothes or busy backgrounds, leaving only the genuine sparkle in their eyes or that sudden, playful grin that defines them right now.
When I photograph kids in Mumbai, whether it is in a quiet corner of a park in Borivali or the comfort of your home, my goal is the same: to find the person inside the child. Color is wonderful, but it can sometimes hide the story. That is why I love these artistic, monochrome sessions. They are not about the perfect outfit or the elaborate prop setup. They are about the connection, the tiny details, and the way your child interacts with the world.
I shoot these sessions with a specific focus on composition and lighting. Because I use a prime 85mm lens, I can create that soft, blurred background that pushes the child to the front of the frame. It gives the images a classic, timeless feel that looks just as good framed on your wall today as it will in twenty years.
These sessions are surprisingly simple. We do not need to chase elaborate themes or manage multiple outfit changes. We just find a comfortable spot, let your child explore or relax, and wait for that specific moment of curiosity, joy, or quiet contemplation. Whether it is a messy cake-smeared face from a first birthday or a thoughtful look from a seven-year-old, the lack of color makes the emotion pop. It is photography that feels honest, direct, and completely authentic to who your child is at this stage of their life.

I am Atmaj. To me, a camera is a tool to freeze the chaos and the quiet moments of growing up. I do not believe in stiff posing, just capturing the magic of your child's personality in its rawest form.
