Mindful Yoga and Foundational Poses for Kids
Yoga helps children build focus, flexibility, and a sense of calm. These foundational practices are designed to help your child wind down and feel centered after a busy day.
Finding a moment of calm. I teach simple meditation and breathing techniques, like this seated Padmasana (Lotus Pose), to help children manage their energy and improve their focus after a busy day.
A deep forward bend, Paschimottanasana, is a fantastic way to stretch the entire back of the body and calm the mind. I teach this as a foundational pose for relaxation and flexibility.
Taking our practice outdoors. Sometimes we move our mats to the grass to connect with nature. This playful wide-legged stance shows how yoga for children can be fun and liberating anywhere.
About Mindful Moments & Foundational Poses
In these sessions, we focus on balancing active poses with simple breathing techniques to help children find quiet and concentration. Whether your child is naturally restless or a bit shy, the goal is not perfect alignment, but building a healthy habit through 12 monthly sessions in a supportive, small-batch environment.
Beyond the physical benefits of Hatha asanas, these mindful moments are about giving kids a toolkit to handle stress. We incorporate gentle stretching and breathing exercises (Pranayama) to help children manage their energy levels after school.
We keep the environment non-competitive. It is not about who can hold a pose the longest; it is about showing up, breathing, and trying our best.
What to expect in class:
- Mindful Movement: We use basic asanas to build body awareness.
- Breathwork: Simple, calming exercises that teach kids how to regulate their emotions.
- Structured Environment: Our classes are held in temperature-controlled studios with safe flooring, specifically designed for small groups of 8 to 15 students.
Classes are held three evenings a week at 5 PM across our AECS Layout, Varthur, and Belathur studios. Since we keep batch sizes moderate, every child receives personal attention to ensure they are practicing safely. If you are looking for a space where your child can develop strength and focus in a family-like atmosphere, these foundational classes are the right place to start.
