About this collection
Getting messy is the best part of our studio. We teach kids to handle clay textures and understand the basics of kiln firing, but our real goal is to watch them master the wheel or build shapes by hand at their own pace. Whether it's a school visit or a regular weekend hobby class, we focus on the process—mistakes aren't errors here, they're just part of the fun.
Building Creativity, One Pinch at a Time
At ArtVilla Academy, we believe that pottery is one of the most rewarding ways for children to disconnect from screens and connect with their artistic side. Our studio in Kandivali and Borivali is designed for young learners, offering a safe and sensory-rich environment where they can explore different clay techniques.
What We Teach
- Hand-Building: Kids start with basic pinch pots, coil techniques, and slab building. This helps them understand form and structure without the technical pressure of the wheel.
- Wheel Throwing: For those ready for the wheel, we provide hands-on guidance to help them center the clay, pull walls, and shape their first bowl or vase. It takes focus, and it's a great lesson in perseverance.
- Surface Decoration: Once the pieces are shaped, kids learn the basics of texturing, sgraffito, and simple glazing.
Why ArtVilla for Kids?
We aren't just teaching a craft; we are teaching problem-solving. If a coil breaks or a bowl collapses, we fix it together. Our in-house kiln means kids can see their work transition from raw mud to a fired ceramic piece much faster, which makes the learning cycle feel complete and satisfying.
We regularly host school groups, including students from institutions like Gopal's Garden School, offering tailored sessions that combine fun with foundational art education. Our instructors are trained to manage group dynamics, ensuring every child—from the quiet observer to the energetic creator—gets individual attention and guidance.
