Behind the Scenes of My Art Studio and Process

Welcome to my studio, where the magic—and the mess—happens. Here is a look behind the curtain at the brushes, the sketches, and the hours of work that go into every piece before it reaches your home.

A snapshot of me enjoying the process, lying on the floor surrounded by my work. You can see a variety of pieces in different stages, from a leopard painting on an easel to a portrait I'm working on.

A short video from a photoshoot in my studio. It captures me at work, from holding my favorite brushes to drawing a mandala mural directly on the wall.

This reel shows the reality of how long detailed art takes. I wanted to show the difference between the real-time speed of my hand drawing and the fast-forwarded versions we usually see.

My paint-covered hand holding a brush. This image perfectly captures my philosophy: art is a hands-on, sometimes messy, but always joyful process.

Me working on my first major soft pastel portrait. You can see the concentration it takes to blend the colors and bring the subject to life.

A close-up shot focusing on my paint-splattered hand as I work on a canvas. The vibrant colors on my skin are a temporary reflection of the artwork I'm creating.

A top-down view of me working with oil pastels. I love capturing these moments that show the tools and materials behind the finished artwork.

About this collection

Many people ask how long a piece actually takes to finish. It is rarely the quick timelapse you see online; it is usually days of layering, drying, and stippling dot by dot. When you choose an artwork from my studio, you are not just getting a final image, you are getting the result of that slow, meditative process.

I do not believe in rushing art. Whether I am working on a detailed mandala mural, a soft pastel portrait, or a landscape on canvas, the process is my therapy. My studio is not a pristine gallery; it is a living space where oil paints, palette knives, and brushes create the textures you see in the final work. I rely on quality supplies like Micron pens for my stippling art and professional-grade soft pastels for portraits to ensure the work lasts.

For custom commissions, I keep you in the loop, often sharing progress shots because I want you to feel the journey of the piece. If you are looking for something that carries that human touch—the slight imperfections, the depth, and the hours of thought—then my art is for you. Every canvas and framed drawing I pack arrives ready to hang, so you can bring a piece of this creative energy directly into your living room or office.

I am Naina, the person behind The Messy Hand. For me, painting is more than just making something pretty; it is my way of processing the world. When I am in my studio with paint on my hands, I am at my most honest, and I hope that comes through in every piece I create for you.
