Our Featured Projects in Adaptive Reuse
We believe every building carries a history worth preserving. This collection explores our work in transforming neglected structures into spaces that serve the community while honoring their past.
This before and after view of the Rung Community Museum's street facade captures the essence of our work: revitalizing heritage structures to restore their original charm and reactivate their presence in the community.
The Sargakhet Handicraft Centre, once a dilapidated British-era post office, is now a warm, inviting hub for local artisans, seen here glowing at dusk in the Mukteshwar valley.
Inside the Rung Community Museum, a perspective of repeating doorways framed by local pine wood and textured mud-plastered walls creates a journey through the restored space, honoring its past.
We transformed a former factory building in Ahmedabad into Monokuro, a modern workspace. This video shows how we integrated a green central courtyard to create a tranquil, nature-filled office environment.
A close-up of the intricate Likhai woodwork, a traditional craft of the Rung community. We collaborated with local artisans to bring authentic cultural details into the museum's design.
The outdoor terrace at the Sargakhet Handicraft Centre offers a serene space for visitors to enjoy the valley view, demonstrating how our designs connect people with the surrounding landscape.
The transformation of the museum's upper floor corridor shows how we turned a neglected, decaying space into a light-filled gallery with restored stone walls and intricate woodwork.
About this collection
Before you commit to a restoration project, understand that we start by decoding the site's original narrative. Whether it is an old post office in Mukteshwar or a factory shell in Ahmedabad, our approach focuses on mapping existing structural grids to minimize demolition, which preserves the building's soul and keeps your renovation grounded in reality.
Architecture is rarely about starting from a blank slate. We view every derelict building or neglected site as a piece of living history waiting for its next chapter. Our featured projects reflect a design process that is 'context-sensitive,' where we listen to the site before we lift a pencil.
When we restored the Sargakhet Handicraft Centre, for instance, we did not simply replace the old British-era post office. We studied its stone integrity and introduced bamboo elements to create a space that supports local artisans while respecting the valley's landscape. Similarly, at the Rung Community Museum, the priority was not just creating a gallery, but utilizing traditional Likhai woodwork and lime plaster to honor the community's heritage.
This is not standard renovation work. It involves deep structural health checks, strategic zoning to maximize volume within old grids, and coordinating with local craftspeople to ensure the material choices—like Kota stone or exposed brick—are authentic to the region. Whether you are looking to modernize an industrial warehouse into a workspace or conserve a heritage structure, we work with you to balance modern functional needs with the original character of the building.
