About this collection
When I design a fusion set, it is never about simply playing over a beat. We spend hours balancing the acoustic frequency of the Tabla with modern PA systems and electronic arrangements to ensure the rhythm sits perfectly in the mix, whether it is for a high-fashion runway or a large-scale festival performance.
Fusion is about conversation. Whether I am collaborating with a jazz saxophonist, electronic music producers, or folk artists, the Tabla remains the anchor. It retains its deep-rooted classical identity while adapting its frequency to sit within contemporary soundscapes.
For corporate events or brand launches, this adaptability is essential. I work closely with sound engineers to ensure the Tabla's natural percussion does not get lost in the electronic mix, which is why a dedicated 3-hour sound check is mandatory for all fusion sets. My Stree Shakti band, for instance, blends Hindustani, Carnatic, and Jazz elements specifically to create a high-energy performance that engages modern, global audiences.
When working on digital projects like my Spotify collaboration, the challenge shifts to studio production, layering traditional compositions over modern beats. If you are planning an event that needs a distinct, global sound, I bring more than just the instrument; I bring the experience of performing on stages ranging from the Gateway of India for Dior to the Woodstock Festival. We ensure the musical setup matches the venue, whether it is an intimate lounge or an open-air concert.
Anuradha Pal
I am Anuradha Pal, and I believe the Tabla speaks a universal language. My fusion work is about taking the traditional sounds I learned from my Gurus, Ustad Allarakha ji and Ustad Zakir Hussain ji, and finding where they meet the pulse of jazz, folk, and global electronic beats.
