This ensures that even in compact Mumbai apartments, we achieve a clean, open feel without sacrificing essential storage space.
Designing for Rest
In my practice at AND Designspace, the goal for any bedroom is to eliminate visual noise. Whether I am working on a compact 2BHK in Bhayandar or a larger apartment in Borivali, I focus on specific elements that define a quiet, functional space.
Strategic Layouts Space is the primary constraint in Mumbai. I often utilize the wall area around the bed for integrated storage, such as headboards that merge into bedside tables or wardrobes that connect to study nooks. By using handleless shutters or push-to-open mechanisms, we keep the room surface smooth and clean.
Material & Lighting Choices I rely on a mix of textures rather than heavy ornamentation. Fluted panels, soft backlighting, and warm veneer finishes create depth without clutter. Lighting is never an afterthought; I incorporate cove lighting and magnetic track spots to control the room's mood, moving away from harsh, flat illumination.
