Beyond traditional walls and roofs, we apply our design philosophy to unique environments, from moving vessels to public community spaces.

Designing the Nirvana Cruise in Goa was an exhilarating challenge. This video shows the transformation from construction to the final elegant cruise, where we applied architectural principles to a mobile space.

Our award-winning project, Koodaaram, is a public pavilion designed for community gathering. The structure is made primarily of bamboo, showcasing our commitment to using sustainable and local materials in innovative ways.

The tiered seating inside the Koodaaram pavilion, made of simple concrete steps with colorful cushions. The open roof structure allows for natural ventilation and a connection to the sky.

About Beyond Buildings: Unique Design Ventures

Designing beyond buildings requires a distinct set of technical constraints. Whether we are planning the interiors of a cruise ship navigating the Goa backwaters or crafting a community pavilion, our focus remains on structural integrity and user experience. We invite you to explore how we apply the same design rigor to your non-traditional projects as we do to our residential work.

Architecture is not limited to static structures, and we thrive on challenges that push us out of our comfort zone. Our ventures into non-traditional sectors allow us to test the limits of materials, climate response, and human interaction in ways a standard home design might not permit.

The Marine Challenge

Working on the Nirvana Cruise in Goa was an exercise in adaptability. Architecture on water requires an acute understanding of motion, vibration, and marine-grade durability. We treated the cruise as a floating interior space, ensuring the aesthetics of luxury and leisure did not compromise the structural requirements of a vessel in open water. Every curve and finish was selected to balance the play of light on the water with the need for a contained, intimate social environment.

Public Spaces as Community Hubs

Our project, Koodaaram, represents a different kind of challenge: creating a public pavilion that fosters community. By utilizing bamboo, we explored sustainable, lightweight construction that remains visually permeable. Winning the 2A Asia-Oceania Architecture Award for this project validated our belief that even temporary public structures can have a lasting impact when designed with cultural and environmental context in mind. The tiered seating and open-roof design were intentional choices to encourage gathering, ventilation, and a direct connection with the sky, proving that architecture can be both poetic and functional.

If you have a project that falls outside the conventional residential or commercial scope, we are ready to apply our design framework to your vision.
