About Architectural Transformations: From Old to Bold
Taking an older building and making it current is rarely just about a new coat of paint. We focus on structural changes, like adding retractable roofs for better airflow or designing custom perforated facades that regulate internal heat. This approach keeps the building's inherent character intact while upgrading it for high-traffic commercial use, often saving you the massive costs associated with building from the ground up.
Architecture is often about building new, but we find more thrill in working with existing canvases. Adaptive reuse is about recognizing the potential in a structure and guiding it into its next life.
The Art of the Facade
Most commercial buildings suffer from 'facade fatigue'—a dated, generic glass-and-steel look that stops attracting footfall. We reinvent these exteriors using passive cooling techniques and materiality. For projects like 'High-drate', we moved away from heavy cladding to breathable, perforated metal screens and brick. This not only looks bold but reduces the heat load, making the building easier to maintain.
Structural Reinvention
Many older restaurants or hotel buildings were designed with closed, static layouts. Our process involves opening up these spaces. We introduce double-height mezzanines, install specialized retractable roofing systems for rooftop venues, and ensure MEP services like kitchen exhaust and fire safety are integrated seamlessly without compromising the aesthetic.
