Grand Entrances & Foyers: Designing First Impressions
The entrance acts as the silent host of your home. I focus on creating a visual narrative the moment the door opens, using architectural symmetry and rich materials to define the space.
This lobby is designed as a portal of first impressions, blending antiquity with modernity. The striking black and white marble floor inlay and ornate wrought iron staircase create a narrative of French classical aesthetics, ensuring functionality is wrapped in timeless beauty.
A symphony of sophistication where timeless craftsmanship meets refined elegance. Polished white marble with a chessboard pattern adds opulence, while tall windows flood the space with natural light, highlighting the grand scale and intricate architectural details of this foyer.
Every element is curated to tell a story of artistry. Here, a classical bust on a pedestal and an ornate console table stand against meticulously paneled walls, creating a vignette that speaks to a deep appreciation for historical design within a grand entrance.
I use light and architecture to create rhythm in long spaces. This corridor features a striking checkerboard marble runner, classical busts on pedestals, and elegant wall sconces that guide the eye and create a sense of procession and grandeur.
The centerpiece of this Lonavala site is the magnificent curved staircase with custom wrought iron railings. It is a testament to my belief that architectural elements should be both functional and sculptural, adding a sense of drama and movement to the home.
This corridor embraces classical principles with its arched ceilings and marble-clad half-walls. The design creates a formal yet flowing transition between spaces, using traditional materials like wood and marble to establish a sense of enduring quality.
A view down a classically designed hallway, where symmetry and proportion are paramount. The intricate marble flooring, paneled walls, and elegant chandelier at the end of the vista create a perspective that is both harmonious and visually compelling.
A hallway designed with careful planning and craftsmanship. The classic black and white diamond-patterned floor provides a bold graphic foundation, complemented by white paneled walls and ornate, cage-style pendant lights for a touch of Parisian flair.
Another perspective of this grand foyer, showcasing the interplay of light and shadow on the paneled walls. The arrangement of furniture and art is deliberate, creating distinct zones within the larger space while maintaining a cohesive and opulent aesthetic.

About Grand Entrances & Foyers
A foyer is more than a point of entry. It is the silent host of your home. I focus on creating a visual narrative the moment the door opens, often using hand-laid checkerboard marble flooring or symmetrical wall paneling to guide the eye. This is not just about floor space. It is about architectural intention that sets the tone for every room that follows.
When designing an entrance, I prioritise symmetry and proportion to ground the space. You will notice that in many of my projects, the flooring acts as the foundation of this narrative. Whether it is a bold black and white marble inlay or a classic herringbone wood pattern, the floor directs the flow of movement while signalling that you have entered a refined environment.
Walls in a foyer offer a canvas for structural drama. I prefer to use detailed molding, wainscoting, or paneling to add depth to what might otherwise be a flat surface. This structural work, combined with the right lighting, usually a central chandelier paired with wall sconces, creates a warm, inviting glow that greets guests immediately.
I also incorporate practical elements that often go overlooked, such as console tables for functionality or architectural busts on pedestals to introduce a historical touch. Each element is chosen to ensure the entrance feels like a grand announcement of the home’s character. My process involves detailed planning of these architectural finishes, ensuring that the cornices, arches, and stone borders align perfectly with your vision of a classical, storied home.

I believe an entrance should feel like an arrival, not just a transition. My designs focus on classical proportions and rich textures to ensure that the moment you walk through your front door, you feel the weight and character of a truly storied home.
