A home library acts as a sanctuary for reflection and focused work. I design studies that blend rich, historical architecture with the warmth of classic interiors, turning any room into a quiet retreat for the mind.

A glimpse into a Victorian library I designed, featuring rich dark wood paneling, a coffered ceiling, and a cozy fireplace. The space is furnished with plush seating and heavy curtains, creating a warm and atmospheric room for reading and reflection.

A tour of "The British Study," a space defined by its deep green walls and dark wood furniture. The video shows the classic desk, leather armchair, and curated gallery wall, all contributing to a traditional and scholarly ambiance.

A detail of "The British Study," showcasing the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf filled with classic volumes. The warm light from the table lamp creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for losing oneself in a good book.

A wider view of the study, highlighting the classic wooden desk and leather chair. The design is a nod to traditional British interiors, creating a space that feels both timeless and deeply personal.

Our favorite corner. I designed this beautiful study with rich, deep tones to create a sense of warmth and sophistication. The ornate, carved bookshelves and classic leather chair are hallmarks of this timeless style.

This playful yet Victorian ambiance was created with deep red walls and a classic billiard table. The room doubles as a game room and library, with dark wood bookshelves and large arched windows creating a sophisticated and fun environment.

Soft minimalism in a home office. The design uses a simple, clean-lined desk and a modern leather chair, set against a backdrop of classic wall paneling. An olive tree adds a touch of nature and softness to the formal space.

A tour of "The Colonial Bar," a space that blends vintage elegance with cultural elements from the colonial era. The dark wood, moody lighting, and classic furniture exude a sense of history and sophistication.

This study feels like a step back in time, exuding timeless elegance. The design features a long wooden table that can serve as a desk or a conference table, set against a wall of beautifully curated art.

About Scholarly Studies & Libraries

A true study requires more than just shelves. In these designs, I prioritize acoustics and lighting, balancing the depth of dark wood paneling with warm, task-focused illumination. This ensures the room remains comfortable for hours of reading or work, rather than just serving as a showpiece.

Creating a library or study is about balancing the intellectual with the aesthetic. When I approach these spaces, I look for ways to marry heavy architectural elements—like coffered ceilings and deep moldings—with functional storage. A well-designed library needs depth. I avoid the current trend of flat, white office spaces, preferring the weight of solid wood, such as walnut or oak finishes, which provides a sense of gravity and history.

Lighting is the unsung hero of a scholarly room. I focus on layering: warm overhead pendants for general ambiance, and dedicated lamps that provide light for reading without causing glare. Whether you prefer a traditional Victorian feel with deep greens and leather armchairs, or a lighter French-inspired aesthetic, the goal remains the same: a room that invites you to slow down. I manage the technical aspects, from wall paneling dimensions to electrical layouts, ensuring your books and mementos have a home that is as beautiful as it is practical.

I am Aashi, and I believe a workspace should inspire you as much as it supports you. I move away from the cold, empty rooms common today, choosing instead to build spaces filled with character, deep tones, and the kind of craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
