Luxurious Washrooms and Designer Powder Rooms
A bathroom shouldn't be an afterthought. I reimagine these private spaces as sanctuaries of calm, using timeless marble, brass accents, and intentional lighting to turn your daily routine into a moment of true indulgence.
For this master bathroom, I incorporated elements of both classical and Parisian design. The freestanding clawfoot tub creates a one-of-a-kind bathing experience, set against a backdrop of elegant wall paneling and classic checkerboard flooring.
This view showcases the custom vanity and glass-enclosed shower with rose gold fixtures. The design is a harmonious blend of vintage-inspired elements and modern functionality, creating a truly luxurious and practical space.
This powder room makes a bold statement with its dramatic wallpaper and contrasting blue wainscoting. The fluted vanity and ornate mirror add layers of texture and sophistication, turning a small space into a jewel box.
Luxury Victorian washroom feels. This design incorporates vintage fixtures, a landscape wallpaper mural, and a striking black and white patterned floor to evoke a sense of history, luxury, and sophistication.
The walk-in shower features marble walls and vintage-style brass fixtures, seamlessly blending with the rest of the Victorian-inspired design. The glass partition keeps the space feeling open and bright.
Marble's dramatic veining instantly invites opulence into a space. Here, I used book-matched marble slabs to create a stunning, symmetrical feature wall behind the vanity, complemented by classic gold fixtures and sconces.
Every detail in this space was thoughtfully curated to create a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics. The design incorporates the client's love for monotones, with shades of grey and white creating a chic and stylish bathroom.
A minimalist approach to classic design. This bathroom features a simple, elegant freestanding tub set against a backdrop of clean, white paneled walls and a classic chandelier, proving that luxury can be understated.
The same bathroom seen from the front, showcasing the beautiful contrast between the white tub and paneling and the dark, dramatic marble walls. The curved back wall adds a soft, sculptural element to the room.
A final view of this designer bathroom, highlighting the addition of a classical portrait. This artistic touch elevates the space, reinforcing the idea that every room in the home should be a reflection of personal taste and history.
About Luxurious Washrooms
When I design a washroom, I prioritize acoustics and lighting before a single tile is laid. While using fine materials like Italian marble or PVD-coated gold fixtures is essential, it is the integration of these with custom-height vanities and moisture-resistant joinery that ensures the space remains pristine, functional, and grand for years to come.
Designing Your Private Sanctuary
Many homes treat the washroom as a purely utilitarian space. I disagree. A bathroom or powder room should function as a private sanctuary, a jewel box where you can retreat from the world. Whether it is a master bath or a guest powder room, I approach these small, enclosed areas with the same architectural rigor I bring to a grand foyer.
Materiality and Craft
The luxury in these spaces comes down to tactile details. We avoid standard, mass-market fittings. Instead, I focus on heavy, solid materials: thick-cut Italian marble for flooring and cladding, and PVD-finished brass or gold hardware that ages gracefully. The goal is to avoid the stark, sterile look that dominates modern trends, opting instead for a depth of character found in classic Victorian or Parisian design.
Practical Elegance
Beauty is meaningless if it fails under pressure. My designs include:
- Technical Waterproofing: Comprehensive layers to protect the integrity of your walls and floors, especially in wet zones.
- Lighting Layers: A mix of central decorative chandeliers and warm wall sconces to ensure the space feels inviting, not clinical.
- Tailored Joinery: Custom-built vanities designed to your height requirements, with moisture-resistant finishes that stand up to daily use.
Why Start Here?
If you have a home that feels empty or lacks personality, the washroom is often the best place to start a transformation. It is a contained project that allows us to experiment with bold patterns, dramatic wainscoting, or that clawfoot tub you have always wanted, without the scale of a full-house renovation.
