Behind the Stitches at Aamani’s Crochet
Peek into the rhythm, the materials, and the purpose that fuel every loop of yarn at my studio.
The excitement is real. This is me unboxing a shipment of high quality, luxurious yarns from Italy. Using the best materials is key to creating beautiful and durable products for our clients.
I believe in sharpening my skills whenever possible. Even while waiting, I find time to practice my stitches, because every moment is an opportunity to create something beautiful.
This is a personal and cherished moment of me teaching my daughter, Aamani. Passing this craft to the next generation is at the heart of my mission and the inspiration behind our name.
About Behind the Stitches
People often see the finished piece, but the real process starts with selecting the right texture. I recently started working with imported Italian cotton yarns, which makes a massive difference in how the final product feels and holds up over time. It is a small choice, but it is exactly the kind of detail that turns a simple project into something you will keep for years.
When you join my workshops or pick up a piece, you aren't just getting an accessory. You are participating in a cycle of empowerment. My studio in Mayfield Garden is where I train women from rural communities, turning simple yarn into a source of dignity and livelihood. I call my craft 'New Age Yoga' because, honestly, the rhythmic movement of the hook is the best therapy I know.
Whether I am unboxing a fresh batch of yarn or helping a student navigate their first slip knot, my goal is the same: to slow down and create something authentic. If you are curious about learning or just want to understand the craft better, I am always happy to chat about the techniques—from chain stitching to reading complex charts—that go into everything I create. From kids taking their first beginner class to adults looking for a creative escape, I love seeing that spark of confidence when a student finishes their first project.
Aamani's Crochet
I am Sriparna, the founder of Aamani's Crochet. I started this journey as a graphic designer, but my heart found its home in the knots and loops of yarn. I teach not just to share a skill, but to pass down a piece of our virasat to anyone looking for a creative break.
