Tai Chi Classes in Vidyaranyapura
Experience the gentle flow of Yang Style Tai Chi in a natural, outdoor setting. Whether you are seeking improved mobility or a path to mental calm, these sessions are designed to help you find your balance.
This video shows the slow, flowing movements that are central to my Tai Chi practice. In my outdoor classes around Vidyaranyapura, I teach how to synchronize breath with these gentle forms. The goal is to cultivate inner strength and find a sense of calm, turning movement into a form of meditation.
Balance is a cornerstone of both Tai Chi and everyday wellness. This sequence demonstrates the focus and control we develop in my classes to improve stability. These exercises are particularly beneficial in my 'Wellness and Mobility for Seniors' sessions, helping to build confidence and prevent falls.
About Featured
I teach the foundational Yang Style forms in every session, ensuring you master the movement patterns before we add complexity. Because we train in the open air in Vidyaranyapura, you will find it much easier to focus on your breathing and physical alignment than you would in a confined studio space.
My Approach to Tai Chi
Tai Chi is often mistaken for a martial art focused on combat, but in my 45 years of practice, I have found its true value lies in how it heals and balances the body. My sessions prioritize the Yang Style, which emphasizes steady, slow, and graceful movements. We begin each class with Qi Gong warm-ups to wake up your energy and clear your mind, followed by the specific forms that make up the Yang tradition.
Why Train Outdoors?
I deliberately hold these classes in the parks of Vidyaranyapura. The natural environment provides a quiet backdrop that is essential for the meditative aspect of Tai Chi. You are not just learning a sequence of moves, you are learning to inhabit your body and connect with your surroundings. This environment is particularly helpful for beginners who might feel self-conscious or distracted in a crowded gym.
Wellness for All Ages
While I welcome everyone, I have seen significant progress in seniors who join my classes. The focus here is not on speed or high-impact exertion. We work on controlled weight shifts and deep, conscious breathing. This directly translates to better daily balance, joint health, and confidence. Whether you are dealing with stiffness or simply looking for a way to stay active without the strain of heavy weights, this practice offers a sustainable, lifelong solution.
Practical Details
Classes are held in small groups, with 12 sessions per month, typically running on a schedule of three days a week. If you prefer a more tailored approach to address specific concerns like knee pain or to dive deeper into breathwork, I also conduct one-on-one sessions that can be held at your residence or a private location of your choice.
