Master Your Instrument at Zen Music Academy
We focus on the bariiki — the finer details of technique — while fostering a vibrant community where students jam, perform, and grow together.
This is what happens at Zen Music Academy. We bring young, passionate students together, and after just five one-hour practice sessions, they are performing as a band. We are incredibly proud of our students Anushka (11, vocals) and Rudra (12, guitar) and their bandmates on this cover.
We believe in the *bariiki*, the finer details. Here, our instructor explains the core technique of playing a flute in tune. Unlike a guitar, a flute can't be tuned with a knob; the tuning comes from your breath and blowing practice. This is the foundation we build for every student.
The magic of music is in playing together. This is a typical jam session at our Mira Road center, where teachers and students collaborate. You can see our drum instructor leading a groove with students on bass and keyboard, while others watch and learn.
This is the passion that drives our academy. Here is a look at a spontaneous jam session between our harmonium and tabla teachers after their classes finished. This is the level of expertise and love for music that we bring to every lesson.
Are you curious about playing the guitar? We invite you to join our free guitar workshop. It's a hands-on session conducted by our expert teachers, perfect for absolute beginners who want to try the instrument for the first time.
A glimpse into one of our group vocal sessions. Here, our instructor guides students on proper voice projection while others accompany on guitar and harmonium. Learning in a group setting helps build confidence and makes the experience more fun.
It's never too early to start. This is one of our young drummers, Aaron, finding his rhythm during a drum lesson. We provide a supportive environment for kids to explore their musical talents on instruments like the drums.
About Featured
We don't just teach notes; we teach the bariiki. Whether you are learning the flute, guitar, or drums, our classes go beyond the standard syllabus. You will find yourself jamming with teachers and fellow students within your first few sessions, not just staring at a textbook.
At Zen Music Academy, we believe music is a language that everyone can speak. Our teaching philosophy bridges the gap between structured technique and creative expression.
Our Teaching Approach
We prioritize the 'bariiki' or finer details of music. If you are learning the flute, we focus on breath control and intonation against a tanpura rather than just fingering. If you are a vocalist, we teach voice projection that fills the room, not just pitch-perfect singing. We combine the discipline of traditional Indian Classical notation with the freedom of Western jamming styles.
Learning Formats
- Group Sessions: Ideal for those who thrive on energy and collaboration. With batches capped at 5 students, you get enough individual attention while gaining the confidence of playing in a band.
- 1-on-1 Premium: For focused learning, song decoding, or advanced theory like the circle of fifths and improvisation techniques.
Our Environment
We have fully air-conditioned classrooms in Mira Road and Vasai, equipped with acoustic treatment for professional sound quality. We provide the instruments during class, including Yamaha digital pianos, acoustic guitars, and full drum kits, so you can start immediately without buying gear.
Our doors are open to everyone—from complete beginners to intermediate players who feel stuck. Drop by for a free workshop to see how we tune our instruments, jam with our teachers, and why our students often start performing in bands after just a few classes.
