About Our Workshops: A Hands-On Introduction
You might be wondering if you have the patience for the tabla or the touch for the guitar. That is exactly why we host these free sessions. We don't just lecture; we get you hands-on with the instruments immediately. Whether it is finding the right blowing technique for a bansuri or learning how to hold a pick, you will get direct feedback from our teachers to help you decide if a specific instrument is truly your calling.
At Zen Music Academy, we believe music is for everyone, but the journey often starts with a single, right decision. Our workshops are less about formal curriculum and more about 'bariiki'—the finer details that make music enjoyable.
When you attend a workshop, you are not just watching a demonstration. We encourage you to hold the instruments, try the posture, and play the first few notes under the guidance of our teachers. It is a space to understand the difference between learning Indian classical instruments like the tabla and harmonium, which require a certain 'baithak' (seating) discipline, versus Western instruments like the guitar or keyboard, which have their own technical demands.
These sessions are also where we bridge the gap between curiosity and community. You will often see current students jamming with teachers, or new participants forming bands after just a few sessions. It is the best way to see our air-conditioned facility, meet our faculty, and decide if our blend of technical rigor and casual jam culture is the right environment for your musical growth. If you are stuck on a plateau or just want to see how we teach, come by our Mira Road location and try it out.
