Yoga is about your mindset, not just your activewear. This series demonstrates that you can find your flow in any attire that helps you stay grounded, comfortable, and connected to your roots.

This is a demonstration of Surya Namaskara performed in a saree. It shows that with the right fabric and drape, traditional wear can be perfectly comfortable for a full yoga flow, blending culture with movement effortlessly.

The Ustrasana (Camel Pose) in a vibrant red saree. This image captures the essence of this series: finding strength, flexibility, and elegance while honoring tradition. It’s about feeling free and powerful in your own skin.

Even a simple warm-up stretch in Vajrasana feels graceful in a saree. This moment captures the stillness and relaxation that is just as important in yoga as the movement itself. It’s about finding comfort and breathing into the pose.

Practicing Bhramari Pranayama in a saree feels incredibly grounding. This video shows how the practice of calming breathwork is universal and can be done anytime to detach from the outside world and find inner peace.

Here I demonstrate Kapalabhati, a detoxifying breathwork technique, while wearing a saree. It’s a reminder that these powerful practices are a part of our heritage and can be integrated into our daily lives seamlessly.

This is a demonstration of Nadi Shodhana, or Alternate Nostril Breathing, in a saree. This calming pranayama helps to pause, reflect, and detoxify the breathing process, connecting us to the quieter, more mindful aspects of yoga.

About Yoga in a Saree: Embracing Tradition

Practicing in a saree isn't about looking perfect, it is about proving that comfort is personal. When you wear something that connects you to your culture, it changes how you approach your breathwork and stretches. You do not need expensive gym gear to start your journey; you just need to show up for yourself.

This series was a collaboration with Divine Dhara, born from a simple question: why do we feel we need specific clothes to practice yoga? My goal is to make this art accessible and meaningful for everyone. Whether we are doing Pranayama, Surya Namaskara, or simple stretches, the focus remains entirely on your movement and your breath.

When you remove the pressure of needing the right athleisure, you finally get to the practice itself. I encourage my students to use whatever clothes make them feel confident and relaxed. During our online sessions, we prioritize safe alignment and technique over aesthetics. We use props like cork blocks and yoga belts to make these postures accessible, ensuring that your practice remains a personal, stress-free space, regardless of what you are wearing.

My classes are designed for real people with real lives. If you are ready to stop worrying about the 'right' way to look and start focusing on the 'right' way to feel, let us work together. Whether you are dealing with back pain from a desk job or just need to clear your head, we will find a flow that fits your body and your lifestyle.
