We believe schools are not just buildings but environments that shape a child's development. Our approach centers on circular forms and honest materials to create campuses that foster community, movement, and growth.

The completed exterior of Mount Carmel School's primary wing in Gurgaon. The design combines three core materials: exposed concrete, local stone repurposed from the original site, and red sandstone, creating a grounded yet modern institutional presence.

The curved red sandstone facade of the Mount Carmel School against the sky. This element adds warmth and texture to the building's circular form, with arched windows creating a rhythmic pattern that defines the upper levels.

The dynamic interior courtyard of Mount Carmel School, showing the interplay of the helical staircases and circular corridors. This space is designed for movement and interaction, connecting all levels of the school in a continuous flow.

Students gather for assembly in the central courtyard, the heart of the school. This open, light-filled space was designed to foster a sense of community, reflection, and unity, making it an integral part of the daily learning experience.

About this collection

When we designed the primary wing at Mount Carmel, we did not start with a glass box. We used the existing stone from the site's boundary wall to build the structure. This approach is not just about reusing materials; it is about grounding the school in its own history, creating a tactile environment where children touch, feel, and grow in a space that connects them to their surroundings.

Educational architecture requires more than just meeting building codes; it demands empathy. In our work for Mount Carmel School, we moved away from the standard rigid box layout to a circular form. This shape is inherently communal, fostering a sense of unity where children gather in the central courtyard for morning assemblies.

Materiality and Sustainability

We focus on honest materials—exposed concrete, red sandstone, and Kota stone. These materials do not need regular painting or upkeep, making them ideal for high-traffic educational environments while keeping the space cool and grounded. We utilized the stone found on-site for the masonry, reducing construction waste and embedding the building into the local geography.

Designing for the Child

Safety is paramount, but it should not feel institutional. We designed the staircase as a helical spine—a DNA-inspired element that turns movement into a visual experience. Arched windows with Gwalior Mint stone frames allow light to flood into classrooms, essential for focus, while the Garden of Eden stained-glass mural serves as a spiritual and creative anchor for the students.

Our Process

Whether it is an institutional campus master plan in the NCR or a boutique wing for a nursery, our process involves:

  • Traffic Flow: Separating bus zones from pedestrian areas for student safety.
  • Passive Cooling: Using site orientation and courtyards to reduce HVAC loads naturally.
  • Flexible Furniture: Modular layouts that allow classrooms to shift from lecture mode to group activities seamlessly.

If you are looking to create a space where architecture actively participates in the learning process, let us talk.
