This is the central courtyard of a Banaras haveli, reimagined. The design balances grand scale and intricate detail, featuring hand-carved stone pillars and geometric flooring under a magnificent chandelier, all celebrating India's rich architectural heritage with modern clarity.
For this resort in the Himalayan foothills, I designed a space where architecture and nature merge. The infinity pool reflects the surrounding greenery, while the structure's clean lines and natural materials create a sanctuary of modern, biophilic luxury.
The reception of the DLF Thrive Gym in Chennai is designed to energize. The vibrant yellow, a nod to the city's spirit, combines with dynamic 'noodle' lighting and a sleek, curved desk to create a high-impact welcome for a state-of-the-art fitness experience.
Detail is everything in creating ambiance. In this club bar, the contrast between the plush red velvet of the stool, the deep green paneling, and the warm glow from a classic table lamp creates a composition that feels both sophisticated and inviting.
This 5000 sq ft villa in Goa is designed to embrace its tropical setting. The architecture blends traditional Goan elements with a modern aesthetic, featuring large glass panels and an open layout that connects the interior living spaces directly to the paddy fields beyond.
A formal dining space within the Banaras haveli, where heritage is felt in every texture. The design combines a rustic wooden ceiling and a traditional rug with elegant seating and a dramatic chandelier, creating a perfect setting for memorable gatherings.
True design is born from craftsmanship. Here, a local artisan carefully places a hand-carved piece of Chunar sandstone, a detail that embodies my commitment to using regional materials and traditional techniques to give a space its authentic soul.

About Hospitality & Leisure Design

How We See Hospitality & Leisure Design

I design spaces that make you feel something. For me, it’s not just about looks – it’s about the vibe, the memories, the little stories you notice only after you’ve spent time there. My work is always for real people, not trends or algorithms.

What Guides My Work

  • I start with empathy - that’s how I get soulful, functional spaces that actually matter.
  • I care about culture. If a place has heritage, like a Banaras haveli, I try to keep its soul alive while making it comfy for today.
  • Simple, earthy materials like brick, wood, and stone always win. They age well and just feel right.
  • Nature should be part of the design - I’m big on biophilic hospitality design. Light, greenery, water… they all change how you feel in a space.

What I’ve Done

  • Boutique hotel interior concepts: I’ve transformed traditional havelis and modern resorts, always keeping local crafts and stories at the center.
  • Restaurant ambience planning: From iconic Dehradun legends to Mediterranean-style clubs in Gurgaon, I try to capture the food and mood in every detail.
  • Multi-generational clubhouse design: Refreshed old clubs, designed flexible spaces, wellness zones, and cozy cafés so everyone finds their corner.
  • Gyms and wellness clubs: Lighting shapes the energy. I zone spaces clearly and use bold colors, like Chennai’s yellow, to motivate and inspire.

Keeping It Real

Simple design is tough. Timelines and budgets can get hairy, but I find that’s when the best ideas happen. If you want a space that feels honest and alive, I’m all in.

My Story

We’re White Studio Architects - Kunal and Gitanjali here. Our thing? Spaces with soul, not just style. Whether it’s carved Chunar sandstone for a haveli or old vinyls from Chandni Chowk in a club bar, we start with empathy and context. Inspiration comes from Milan Design Week and desi (local) roots, mixing global ideas with Indian vibes. For us, design is personal - your story, your values, your space.

My Work
