We don't teach children to mimic. At our Jayanagar studio, 'First Leaf' is where kids learn to observe, react, and find their own voice through theatre games.

A sneak peek into Day 3 of our children's workshop. Here, our talented students explore body limitations, learn the art of exaggeration, and express a range of emotions through fun, guided activities.

Day 2 of our First Leaf workshop, where we tap into our students' creativity. Watch them present themselves individually and work together as a team, building essential performance and life skills.

About First Leaf: Theatre for Children

We keep our batch sizes tight so every child gets the space to move, speak, and be heard. In these sessions, we skip the scripted memorization drills common in school plays. Instead, we use improvisation and theatre games to help your child break out of their shell, understand their body, and gain the confidence to express themselves naturally, whether they are on stage or just speaking up in class.

Theatre is not just about putting on a costume and acting out a story. For us at WeMove, it is about the 'First Leaf'—the beginning of a child’s journey toward self-expression. In our Jayanagar studio, we move away from the traditional approach where children just recite lines.

What happens in our sessions:

  • Breaking the Monotony: We use improvisation exercises that force kids to think on their feet rather than rehearsing a set speech.
  • Body Awareness: Through movement-based games, children learn that their body is a tool for communication—improving posture, energy, and presence.
  • Collaboration: Acting is reacting. Every game we play requires them to listen to their partner, fostering empathy and teamwork.
  • Removing Inhibition: Whether your child is naturally shy or incredibly energetic, our facilitators work to balance their energy, ensuring everyone gets their moment to shine.

We hold these sessions in our studio in Jayanagar—a space with a red-oxide floor, devoid of corporate distraction, and filled with posters of plays we’ve staged. It’s a safe, creative home where they can make mistakes, laugh at them, and try again. By the end of the workshop, they aren't just memorizing scenes; they are presenting their own creations to their parents, built entirely from their own imagination.
