Behind the Scenes: See Our Photography Process
Photography isn't just about clicking a button. Take a look at how we set up lights, direct poses, and coordinate the team at VG Studios to get the perfect shot.
This short video shows the energy and process during a men's portrait session. You can see me working with the camera and the lighting setup to capture a series of strong headshots.
A behind the scenes look at a portfolio shoot for a new model. It shows the collaboration between me, the makeup artist, and the hair stylist to create the final polished look.
This image reveals the lighting setup for a classic beauty headshot. I am using a large beauty dish as the main light source to create that soft, flattering light that is essential for beauty work.
About Behind The Scenes: The Process
Log aksar puchte hain ki kaunsa camera ya lens best hai, par asli magic light control mein hota hai. Jab aap mujhe shoot karte hue dekhte hain, toh samajh aayega ki camera sirf 20% hai, baaki 80% light placement hai. Whether I am using a beauty dish for a headshot or adjusting a Gobo for fashion, I am always focused on how the light falls on your face before I even touch the shutter.
Decoding the Shoot
When you step into VG Studios in Noida, you are not just getting a photo session; you are getting a technical breakdown of how an image is constructed.
The Lighting Philosophy I am obsessed with light. My studio process involves using professional setups—often Elinchrom or Nanlite systems—to sculpt the subject. Whether it is a soft, flattering butterfly light for beauty headshots or a more dramatic split-lighting setup for commercial portraits, the goal is always the same: capture it right in-camera.
Collaboration is Key Many people think a shoot is a one-person job. It is not. You will notice in these behind-the-scenes glimpses that my process heavily relies on the team—makeup artists, hair stylists, and my light assistants. We work together because a great final image starts with the right foundation. If the makeup is not sitting right, or the hair has a stray strand, we fix it on the spot.
Why We Shoot Tethered For high-end editorial work, I prefer tethered shooting. This means you see exactly what I see on a large monitor in real-time. This feedback loop is crucial—it allows us to adjust poses, angles, and facial expressions instantly. No guessing games, no 'we will fix it in post.' We get the vision right during the shoot so the final retouching is minimal and natural.
Ultimately, my studio process is designed to make you comfortable. When you stop worrying about how you look or what the lights are doing, that is when the real, candid expression comes out. That is what I aim for in every session.
