Behind the Scenes: My Photography Process
I believe in showing you everything. From the on-set chaos to the final, raw edit, here is how I build a story and create moody, authentic portraits without the plastic finish.
What you see on location is just the starting point. This video shows how we transform a simple outdoor path into a series of compelling black and white fashion portraits for a male model's portfolio.
See the full process, from a simple rooftop setup to the final cinematic shot. This is what I mean by learning through action. I'll show you how I use natural light and guide the model to capture that perfect "in-between" moment full of emotion.
Night photography doesn't have to be intimidating. This is a behind the scenes look at how I use a single off-camera flash to create dramatic, well-lit portraits against a city skyline, even in complete darkness. I'll walk you through my exact camera settings and lighting setup.
It starts with the gear. Here's a quick look at my typical setup with the Sony A73 and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens, followed by a glimpse of the kind of dynamic street style photography we can achieve with it.
About The Full Process: Behind The Scenes
When I shoot, the camera settings are only half the story. Notice how I drag the shutter to let the Mumbai city lights blur while keeping the subject sharp with a single off-camera flash. This technique creates that cinematic, in-between mood you see in my night portraits—no complicated studio gear needed.
Photography is not just about the click. It is about the intent behind every frame. In these behind-the-scenes clips, I break down the process from the gear I carry to the final edits in Photoshop.
Why the Process Matters
Most photographers get stuck in the cycle of over-editing, trying to fix flat light or awkward poses with presets. My approach is different. Whether we are in a Mumbai street or a home setup, we focus on lighting, posing, and connection first.
My Technical Workflow
- Gear: I stick to the Sony A73 and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens. It is simple, effective, and gets the job done without extra clutter.
- Lighting: I alternate between natural light for soft, moody portraits and a single Godox flash for dramatic, cinematic night aesthetics.
- The Edit: My editing workflow in Photoshop is minimal. I focus on color grading, curves, and split toning to retain texture. If your subject looks like plastic, you have pushed the sliders too far.
Practical Mentorship
This cluster shows you how to learn by doing. If you are struggling with your portfolio or feel your images lack depth, my 1-on-1 sessions cover:
- Portfolio Audits: A ruthless, honest review of your work.
- Live Lighting Setup: We practice directing subjects and controlling flash, so you understand the logic, not just the settings.
- Storytelling: How to direct models for movement—walking, hair play, and emotion—instead of static, stiff poses.
Photography is ishq hai (pure passion). If you want to move past the amateur mistakes and build a portfolio that feels real, let's work on it together.
