About On The Road: Workshops & Festivals
Teaching at festivals like Vamos Goa or Kolkata Salsa Weekend is quite different from my regular studio classes in Bangalore. It is high-energy and intensive, where I focus on breaking down musicality and partner connection in a short span. Whether you are catching me at a national event or a local pop-up workshop, my goal remains the same: getting you to move beyond the steps and actually feel the rhythm, rather than just counting beats.
When I am on the road, the vibe is all about community. My workshops are never about lecturing or showing off complex moves that you will never use on a social dance floor. Instead, I focus on the 'why' and the 'how'. We dive into rhythm identification, body movement, and the subtle cues that make a partner connection work.
What I Bring to Festivals
- Musicality over Counts: I ditch robotic counting. If you are in one of my festival bootcamps, you will hear me using sounds like 'unka chaka' to help you connect with the instruments rather than just your feet.
- Dominican Bachata & Salsa: I emphasize the roots of the dance. In my sessions, we explore weight transfer, frame, and fluid movement that feels as good as it looks.
- Social-Ready Moves: The goal of every workshop I conduct is to leave you with skills you can immediately take to the social floor at a festival after-party.
