Handcrafted Christmas Ornaments and Nativity Sets
Bring home the quiet magic of the season. Our Channapatna-crafted ornaments and Nativity sets are designed to be heirlooms, not just holiday decorations.
For years, customers have asked for a Nativity set. This 16-piece handcrafted set is the result, inspired by a vintage Scandinavian scene but with our signature Channapatna stamp. It includes Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the three Wise Men, and more.
This collector's Nativity set holds a special place in my heart. Creating this cohesive collection required immense skill and precision from our artisans, who crafted each piece to fit perfectly within the box, which doubles as a shed.
It’s that magical time of year when our colourful Channapatna toy family comes together. From Rudy the spirited Rudolph to our charming Flaky family snow-folk, these timeless characters have brought joy to families for years.
The Flaky family is back for our favourite season. Our Christmas ornaments, including snowmen, reindeers, and birds, are a must-have on your gifting list. They are perfect for decorating your tree with handcrafted charm.
It's our favourite season, and we've put together our classic Christmas designs to make your choice easier. This collection of knick-knack boxes and tabletop decor, featuring Rudolf, snowmen, and Xmas trees, are timeless wooden objects.
Last Christmas, our lovely neighbours at Sapa Bakery in Mysore invited us to decorate their space, and it has become a beloved tradition. We are back again, sprinkling Christmas magic with our Channapatna family.
Add a touch of festive magic with our charming Christmas-themed storage boxes. Perfect for holding holiday surprises or adding to your decor, these handcrafted wooden beauties from Channapatna bring life to your table setting.
About this collection
Each ornament you see here is turned by hand in Channapatna using Aale Mara (Wrightia Tinctoria) wood. We finish them with natural, non-toxic dyes applied while the wood spins on a lathe, giving them that signature gloss without a single drop of chemical varnish. These are tactile, weighted pieces meant to be handled and passed down, not just hung on a branch.
When I finally decided to design our Nativity set, it wasn't about jumping on a trend. It was a request from our community that had been building for years. I wanted to create a scene that felt right—one that balanced the solemnity of the story with our signature Channapatna quirkiness. The result is a 16-piece set, complete with Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men, and a shed that doubles as the display box. It is a piece of heritage that fits into any home.
More Than Decorations
Our Christmas collection is an extension of our year-round work. Whether it is 'Rudy' the reindeer or our 'Flaky' family of snowmen, every piece is made by our artisan partners who treat this wood with the same respect they have for centuries of tradition. We use medicinal wood and natural dyes, ensuring that when you decorate your tree, you are bringing in something safe, sustainable, and entirely Indian.
A Growing Tradition
One of the most heartening parts of this journey has been seeing our work become part of your rituals. Last year, Sapa Bakery in Mysore invited us to decorate their space, and it has since become a tradition we cherish. It is that same 'lagav' (attachment) that we hope you feel when you unpack these ornaments every December. These aren't disposable holiday trinkets; they are keepsakes designed to age well, spark memories, and carry the story of the artisans who crafted them long after the festive lights come down.
Varnam Craft Collective
I’m Karthik, and for years, our workshop in Channapatna was strictly about toys. When I finally sat down to design our first Nativity set, it wasn't about following a trend. It was about creating something that felt right—a piece of heritage that fits perfectly into your home, year after year.
