About this collection
Getting to black belt with us isn't an overnight process. We hold formal grading exams periodically where students must demonstrate kata forms, sparring technique, and physical conditioning in front of our examiners. It is a nerve-wracking day for most, but seeing them earn that belt after months of preparation is exactly why we do this.
The Grading Journey
Earning a black belt at UMC is not handed out. It is earned through rigorous testing. Our grading system is structured to ensure every student truly understands the mechanics and philosophy behind their techniques.
The Exam Breakdown
- Kihon & Kata: The foundation. Students perform basic movements and complex forms to prove their technical proficiency.
- Kumite (Sparring): This is where theory meets reality. Students must demonstrate control and strategy under pressure.
- Physical Endurance: It is not just skill; it is stamina. We test if they can perform at a high level when tired.
Why We Hold Formal Ceremonies
A black belt is a life achievement. We treat it as such. We invite parents and family members because this success is rarely achieved alone. You will see us present certificates, celebrate with the group, and emphasize that this belt is just the beginning of a higher level of training.
Whether you are training at our HSR Layout or Bommanahalli dojo, the expectations for grading are the same. We prioritize safety and traditional etiquette throughout the process, ensuring every graduate respects the rank they have earned.
United Martial Arts & Activity Club
We are UMC, a squad that believes champions are made through sweat, not luck. We train hard to see our students transform from shy kids into confident fighters, one belt at a time.
