About The Tiger Taekwondo Academy Family
When you train at our Janakpuri centre, you see more than just students learning kicks. You see a community where belt levels do not create walls. Older students regularly help juniors with their dobok ties or stance corrections during poomsae drills. This is intentional. In my dojang, we believe that martial arts is about ‘Do’ (the way), and true learning happens when students support each other, fostering a culture of mutual respect that stays with them long after they leave the mat.
Martial arts is often misunderstood as just fighting, but at Tiger Taekwondo Academy, the focus is on the long-term character development of every student.
The Dojo Culture
In our training sessions, we enforce discipline from the moment you step into the dojang. Whether it is keeping your uniform (dobok) clean or ensuring your fingernails are trimmed for safety, these small habits build the foundation for the serious work we do. We use Korean commands to maintain structure and focus, which helps students stay present during high-intensity sessions.
Training for Everyone
We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Our classes are divided to ensure everyone gets the right attention:
- Beginners: We start with fundamental stances (Charyot, Juchum seogi) and basic poomsae forms to build muscle memory.
- Intermediate to Advanced: Once the basics are set, we move to kyorugi (sparring) techniques, electronic scoring practice, and advanced combinations.
- Fitness focus: Agility ladders, stretching, and strength training are integrated into every session to support those high kicks.
Belt Progression
Grading is a milestone here. It is not handed out; it is earned through demonstrating mastery of techniques, forms, and discipline. When you see our students smashing boards (kyokpa) or performing precise poomsae, you are seeing the result of months of consistent practice. If you are looking for a place where your child learns to be resilient, physically fit, and respectful, this is where you start.
