About Indian Folk Dance
Why Folk Dance Matters to Us
Folk dance feels like home. It's not just about learning steps, it's about feeling the music and celebrating where we come from. When I teach Garba or Lavani, I’m sharing a piece of my own story, not just a routine.
What I Teach
My classes revolve around the colourful world of Garba and Dandiya, with a strong focus on authentic moves straight from Gujarat. I break down even the basics like 'do tali' and 'teen tali' so you can hit the floor confidently, whether you’re dancing at a wedding or a big community folk dance event. You’ll pick up things like dodiya, Dakla, and the right way to hold the dandiya sticks. There’s also Lavani dance workshop sessions and a taste of Uttarakhand folk if you want something different.
How Classes Work
- Batches for adults/ladies and for bachhe (kids) - everyone fits in somewhere
- Classes for all skill levels, from Indian folk dance for beginners to seasoned dancers
- Both weekday and weekend slots so you don’t have to juggle too much
- Extra workshops, especially around Navratri, and private Garba dance tutorial sessions for groups or societies
More Than Just Steps
Watching students go from shy to shining on stage makes it worth it. Whether you want to learn for fun, fitness, or to perform, you’ll find an honest, energetic space here. Aakhir mein, it’s all about enjoying the journey and finding your own rhythm.
