About Belt Grading & Student Progression
Getting a new belt here isn't just about showing up to class. I conduct formal grading under the International Indo-Ryu Karate-Do Federation, meaning every test is a serious evaluation of your skill. Whether you are a kid aiming for your first yellow belt or an adult working towards Shodan, you have to earn it through consistent Kihon and Kata practice.
At my dojo, belt promotion is a genuine milestone, not a handout. When you train with me, you are following a rigorous, structured curriculum that ensures your progress is recognized and authentic.
The Path to Black Belt
Every student begins with Basics (Kihon) to build a strong foundation. This is where we clear the mind and focus on simple, sharp movements. As you progress, we move to forms (Kata), which teach balance and flow, and eventually, we integrate sparring (Kumite) to test your reaction time and situational awareness.
I don't just push students to test for the sake of it. I wait until I see the discipline and technique required for that level. The grading process is stressful but rewarding—it teaches you how to handle pressure.
Why Certification Matters
Because we are affiliated with the International Indo-Ryu Karate-Do Federation, the belts and certificates you earn are official. They hold value in tournaments and championships across the country. My goal is to build warriors who are confident inside and outside the dojo.
I hold sessions across Mumbai, including Ghatkopar, Powai, and Vikhroli. If you are ready to put in the work and want to know when the next belt examination is scheduled, let's talk.
