This piece showcases the beautiful crackle effect of a Raku glaze. The fine black lines are created when the glaze cracks during rapid cooling and smoke seeps into the fissures.

About The Alchemist's Fire: Raku & Horsehair Firing

Raku firing isn't just pottery; it's a high-stakes dance with heat. In this workshop, we pull red-hot pieces from the kiln at 1000°C and plunge them into combustible materials. You will need focus and safety gear, but the result—a piece transformed by smoke, fire, and crackle patterns—is worth every bit of the intensity.
