Getting Started: A Message from Our Founder
Music is a lifelong journey, not a quick destination. Here, Hitesh Rupani shares the philosophy behind our practice, the vital role of discipline, and how we build a supportive community for students of all ages.
In this introductory talk, I share my thoughts on how to begin your music learning journey. I discuss the importance of discipline, daily practice, and how parents can support their children to get the most out of their music education and develop as individuals.
Music is a global language. In this clip, I discuss with fellow musician Kunal Agarwal how interacting with artists from around the world during my Master's in Music Technology broadened my musical horizons. We encourage our students to listen widely and explore diverse genres.
About A Message from Our Founder
If you are ready to start, please commit to an initial three-month period. Music does not reveal itself in just one or two classes. Whether you pick up the guitar, drums, or join our vocal batches, consistent daily practice is the only way to see progress. We ask parents to get involved, sit in on the sessions, and help manage that daily practice time. It is a commitment, but the payoff in confidence and expression is worth every minute.
The Gurukul Philosophy
At The Music Gurukul, we believe in building a system of learning for life. My own journey started with a guitar in hand and a lot of curiosity, and I want to help you create that same sense of wonder. When you join us, you are not just signing up for a class; you are becoming part of a community. We fill the gap where traditional schools often miss out by providing high-quality music education in a space that feels like home.
Why Practice Matters
Many parents ask me if their child can learn. My answer is always yes, but you have to go all out. Music requires discipline. It means carving out 30 to 60 minutes every single day to practice. Whether you are learning Hindustani vocals, mastering the guitar, or studying Western music theory, that daily habit is what turns a hobby into a skill. We see students go from shy beginners to confident performers on stage, but that transformation happens through the daily work.
A Journey for the Family
Music education is a shared journey. We encourage parents to be present. Sit in on our classes at our Chembur or Matunga centers. Observe the lessons. Learn to appreciate different genres together, from Bollywood hits to blues, rock, and jazz. When you engage with your child's musical growth, it becomes a bonding experience for the whole family.
How to Begin
If you are unsure where to start, reach out. We offer trial sessions where you can see which instrument or vocal style clicks with you. We guide you on everything from buying your first instrument to understanding our syllabus. Let us help you find your sound.
The Music Gurukul
I’m Hitesh, and my own journey started with a guitar in hand and a lot of curiosity. I founded The Music Gurukul because I wanted to create a space where learning music is about more than just technique—it’s about the joy of discovery and the community we build together. I am here to help you or your child find that rhythm.
