Mastering Artistic Techniques at Our Prabhadevi Studio
Art is about how you think, not just what you draw. We push you to get your hands dirty and experiment with raw materials to find your own voice.
Art is about play, exploration, and the wonder of asking "what if?". This image captures our core philosophy: to rediscover that childlike sense of curiosity and embrace the joy of the creative process, no matter the outcome.
A close-up look at the textures that buzz and colors that crackle in our studio. This montage shows the hands-on process of art-making, from finger painting to collage, capturing the vibrant energy and creative experimentation that happens here every day.
Why reimagine? Because the world changes when you look at it twice. This video captures the spirit of our studio, where students are constantly encouraged to ask "what if?", to experiment with materials, and to see something new in the world around them.
A throwback to an incredible technique our students explored: weaving painted canvas strips. This piece shows how they created a dynamic, textured landscape, with the weaving adding layers of depth and meaning to the composition.
This student used the canvas weaving technique to create a surreal and narrative piece. A treasure chest is revealed inside a shark's mouth, with the woven water creating a sense of movement and fragmentation. A brilliant fusion of technique and storytelling.
A beautiful example of mixed-media and the canvas weaving technique. This artwork combines coffee stains, doodles, and woven paper strips to create a textured and personal reflection on coffee shop culture.
Here, the weaving technique is used to create a sense of camouflage and depth in a forest scene. The deer appears partially hidden by the woven strips of canvas, demonstrating a clever and thoughtful use of the medium.
A chessboard comes to life with personality and perspective. This student used the weaving technique to create a distorted and dynamic playing field, giving each chess piece a unique, expressive face.
Our students have been hard at work learning to draw and render the human figure. This video shows their process, from studying references on their phones to applying paint, and the amazing progress they have made in capturing form and color.
From old furniture to new art! This video shows our talented young students upcycling old pieces with vibrant colors and creative designs. It's a fun, hands-on workshop that teaches them about transformation, sustainability, and artistic flair.
About Mastering the Medium: Techniques & Exploration
You will not find sterile classrooms here. In our Prabhadevi studio, we focus on material exploration—canvas weaving, heavy body acrylics, and upcycling—to help you understand structural design. It is messy work, but it is necessary. If you want to understand how to handle these materials to strengthen your portfolio or build your foundation, let’s talk.
We believe technique is the language of your ideas. When you learn to weave canvas, you aren't just making a pattern. You are learning to manipulate structure, create depth, and control how a viewer interacts with your work.
We break down our technical approach into three main areas:
-
Structural Manipulation: Like our canvas weaving projects, we teach you how to turn flat surfaces into three-dimensional narratives. It forces you to think about spatial relationships rather than just filling space.
-
Figure and Form: You will study human anatomy not from stale textbooks, but from real observation. We use phones, live references, and constant sketching to capture movement, gesture, and raw emotion in your lines.
-
Creative Upcycling: We teach you to see potential in discarded objects. When you take a piece of old furniture and re-imagine it, you learn about surface application, adhesion, and how to maintain aesthetic integrity across different substrates.
This is not a copy-paste workshop. We provide the tools—etching presses, wire cutters, and diverse consumables—but you provide the vision. Whether you are prepping for NID or just looking to break out of a creative rut, this is where you learn that mistakes are just ideas that changed their minds.
Purnima Sampat
I started this studio because I was bored with traditional, copy-paste art classes. My team—Kuldeep, Satendra, Lubaina—and I treat every student like a fellow artist, not a trainee. We want to see your messy process, your mistakes, and your bold ideas.
