Yoga Asanas for Health Management and Chronic Relief
We teach yoga as a tool to manage health conditions, not just a workout. Explore how our traditional practices support thyroid, BP, diabetes, and back care.
Halasana (Plough Pose) is a powerful inversion that I teach to students who are ready for it. Its benefits include stimulating the thyroid, calming the nervous system to reduce stress, and aiding in the management of back pain and diabetes.
Building a strong core is fundamental for back health and overall stability. In this partner exercise, students work together to engage their abdominal muscles, demonstrating that therapeutic yoga can also be dynamic and strengthening.
Beyond physical postures, I teach techniques for mental and sensory health. Jyoti Trataka (candle gazing) is a powerful practice for improving vision, focus, and memory, directly contributing to holistic well-being.
About Asanas for Health Management
Many people think yoga is only about flexibility, but our approach focuses on stability and physiological regulation. We use props like belts and blocks to hold poses safely for longer durations, which is essential when you are managing conditions like back pain, thyroid issues, or diabetes. Instead of rushing through flows, we focus on holding the right posture to impact specific systems in your body.
Why Therapeutic Yoga Works
At Swasthya Yoga Academy, we view yoga as a functional practice. Whether you are dealing with chronic back pain, fluctuations in blood pressure, or the daily stress of modern life, our sessions are designed to move beyond the surface. We do not push for extreme flexibility; instead, we prioritize safe, sustainable movement.
Our Approach to Health Management
- Prop-Heavy Practice: We use bolsters, belts, and blocks extensively. These tools help students with limited range of motion or joint stiffness safely achieve restorative poses. This makes our classes accessible to seniors and those recovering from injuries.
- Targeted Asanas: We include specific inversions like Halasana (Plough Pose) to assist with thyroid and diabetes management. These are always performed under close supervision to ensure proper alignment and safety.
- Beyond the Body: We integrate cleansing techniques and Jyoti Trataka (candle gazing). This practice is particularly effective for students looking to improve their concentration, reduce academic stress, or manage sleep-related issues like insomnia.
What to Expect in Class
Our studio in Kaggadasapura is a dedicated, distraction-free space with wooden flooring and mirrors for self-correction. We keep our batches small, typically limited to 10-15 students, to ensure that you receive the guidance you need to hold poses correctly.
We believe in consistency over intensity. Our morning sessions for seniors are gentle and focused on mobility, while our after-school programs for children incorporate movement and focus-building exercises. We are not promising miracles, but we are committed to helping you integrate these traditional techniques into your daily routine for long-term health.
